Tuesday with Tara {take 56}

Happy Tuesday!  We are dealing with some intense heat where I’m at right now, the kind that makes this Canadian girl want to just hide inside where the AC is… and since it’s nearing the end of July, it’s time to try to mentally cool down and start thinking about Christmas in July!

ChristmasInJuly (2)

Today’s card is a small one- just 4×4 inches, which seemed like a perfect fit for this small oval design from a stamp set by Prickley Pear.  The frame was inked with two colors of Distress Ink and misted with water before it was stamped, then a sentiment was stamped inside with a coordinating Archival Ink.  I created a simple background on watercolor paper with a generous spritz of water and a few drops of Color Burst.  Just two colors creates such beautiful variety!  I finished off my card layering onto cardstock and stamping a coordinating snowflake stamp from the set, then added a few wooden snowflake embellishments, bling and Stickles glitter glue.

And that’s what I came up with for a Christmas card in July… it didn’t exactly cool me down, but it was a great way to spend time on a day that was just too hot for this Canadian girl to be outside!  This set of oval designs is a nice size that will be fun for small cards, perfect for giving with a little gift.

Christmas in July is a bit foreign to a lot of people, but I know for those of us who like to send cards, it’s time to start thinking about getting creative and making cards to give to our friends and loved ones 🙂  So, I hope you’ll take some time on a hot summer day and start creating!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 53}

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend and whatever celebrations you took part of for Canada Day or the 4th of July!

thankyou kitty (2)

I had a request for thank you card ideas, so when I saw one on Pinterest that inspired me to make this week’s card, I knew I could turn it into a lovely thank you 🙂  The card itself is very simple, featuring one of the gorgeous Sizzix thinlits dies by Tim Holtz over a pretty watercolor background I created with Color Burst.  The same background design paper is cut into a strip, which gives a strong visual to the front of the card and draws the eye to the three main elements- the lace pattern, the sentiment and the cat!

The sentiment is from my new fave Avery Elle “Oh Happy Day” set.  It’s such a pretty script and a really nice mix of sentiments too 🙂

I tied a small bouquet to the crazy cat’s tail (the cat crazy stamps by Tim Holtz are just as fun as the birds!) to help him/her show appreciation.  I picked up some color on my craft sheet to add to the flowers since the original white color blended into my cream card base a bit too much.

Here’s another look at the card, the sun is shining bright so it was tricky getting photos without shadows, but I wanted you to see the pretty colors in the full light!

This would be a simple card to reproduce multiples of (if I was someone who did that!) and play with a variety of colors, sentiments, cat & bird images…

Hope you have a creative day and that your summer is off to an amazing start!  Thanks to all of you who left kind words on my last post- I’m glad my ‘something different’ inspired you!

Inky hugs,

Tara

GodBlessYou (2)

Happy Tuesday!  I’m still trying to figure out what is going on with images here, so have a quick one for you today- just a few images and not a whole lot to say about it 🙂  I sure would appreciate your feedback though- please comment if you can see the images (yes or no) and what device you are using to read this post (laptop/pc or mobile device/iphone, ipad, samsung galaxy,etc.) I appreciate the feedback SO MUCH!  And yep… we’ll be happily giving away some goodies to one random person who leaves a comment 🙂

So here’s how my card started out- with some black die cuts (love these Tim Holtz wildflowers dies!) and a piece of watercolor paper with Color Burst…

GodBlessYou (3)

I spritzed with water first, then dropped some Color Burst on and alternated spritzing and drying with a heat gun until I was happy with the results!  Fun and easy!

This sentiment from Paper Smooches was calling out to have a touch of Stickles added… I added them to the bold text and a few touches on my flowers as well.

Here’s hoping you can see it all… just three images this week 🙂  Please let me know, we’ll pick a random winner and let ya know who it is next week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
