Hello Squares

Hello crafty friends!  I’ve had some fun this month playing with some different geometric shapes.  At the beginning of the month I did my Scrap ‘n Stamp hop card plus another card that featured circles (see my blog HERE), earlier this week was a card with diamonds (pay attention…. you’ll see where those diamonds came from in a minute).  Today I’m playing with squares.

My diamond card from earlier this week used the insides of these open squares… it’s why I don’t throw good scraps out!

I knew what I wanted to do with this card… sort of.  I had a vision of these open square frames but I honestly didn’t know what to do with them.  So I cut them using some nesting square dies and let them sit on my desk for a few days.  I’d play with them here and there and finally I found this and ran with it.
To get the frames, I used only nesting dies… two dies, the larger one two sizes bigger than the smaller one.  I used Purple Tape to keep them together, trying to keep the frame the same on all four sides of the square (they are a little wonky, but they are close).  I laid them out in the pattern that made me happy and rather than try to glue them down one piece at a time, I picked them all up with Press ‘n Seal (yup, the stuff in the kitchen).  I put glue on the back of it all and then picked up the Press ‘n Seal and was able to see through it so I could get it placed where I wanted on my card panel.  I thought this was a great way to use up some smaller scraps of patterned paper in my stash.

All Those Circles!

Welcome to Friday, everyone!  It’s Nancy here today with a relatively clean and simple card to go with the Random Acts of Cardness prompt of CIRCLE.  Can you believe we’ve being doing these word prompts for more than a year now?!  I’m just happy that winter is behind us and while spring in Calgary can be hit or miss, I am hopeful that things will just continue to get better (cue the inevitable snowstorm…).

Anyway…

I had a lot of ideas floating in my head about what I wanted to do to play with circles… there are so many possiblities!  But I decided to create a circle (wreath) out of circles…. I chose some beautiful inks from Versafine Clair and started to play with my Gina K Wreath Builder and some circle stamps from My Favorite Things.

Aren’t those colours delicious??!  I just love the coverage I get with the Versafine Clair inks, even on a solid stamp.  And I enjoyed using the Wreath Builder to create something that wasn’t a standard floral wreath.  In fact, I think this was easier for me than figuring out where to place flowers and greenery.

*Rainbows*

Happy Friday crafty friends… Nancy here today with my take on a rainbow card.  I had a lot of ideas in my head, but decided to use some of the wonderful patterned papers I have in my stash!

This card was pretty easy to put together…  I cut the two patterned papers to be 4″ wide, the balloons are 3.75″ and the stripes are 1.5″.  I added the pink strip down the seam to cover up the spot where the two papers meet.  I stamped the sentiment on the front panel but decided it needed something more… thus the greenery.  I pulled out my trusty We R Memory Keepers Layer Guide to create a 1/8″ border around the sentiment and I put that on the card with foam tape.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Lawn Fawn Sugarplum and Sherbet

*Patterend Paper:  My Favorite Things Over the Rainbow

*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne and Verdant
