Tuesday with Tara {take 62}

Happy Tuesday!  Hope you enjoyed your long weekend, especially if you got the time off work 🙂  Or maybe more so if you didn’t, like me… ha.  Anyways, we are officially transitioning from summer into autumn and I know that I am enjoying the cooler mornings and evenings!  I was thinking about cooler temps when I made these cards with my Colorburst backgrounds, but once the cards were “done” I felt they had more of a winter feel to them than autumn, so I changed them into Christmas cards!  So today I am sharing with you 2 card designs- before & after their Christmas transformation.

Christmas Coffee (4)

The mug portion of the stamp was paper pieced from my watercolor background paper and the rest is very simply layered. I added some wooden embellishments to my card and a touch of bling, as well as a sentiment and some very subtle snowflakes stamped in the background. You’ll notice a difference in color in the two photos as well, simply because my first one was taken in direct sunlight.  Just a few simple changes turned this card into a Christmas card!

Here’s my next ‘before’ photo:

Christmas Coffee (2)

The color palette just didn’t scream ‘pumpkin spice latte’ at me 🙂  Here’s the wintery after image:

Christmas Coffee (3)

I kept this one simpler, with just one wooden snowflake added, but I think it works!  Hopefully this gives some ideas for stamps in your stash and how you can use everyday stuff to make Christmas cards!  I am actually someone who struggles with making Christmas cards early/on time, but sometimes they just fall into place.

Have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 61}

Happy Tuesday!  I have a simple card today that features pretty embellishments by Prima and a Colorburst background!  I  realized the other day that I tend to use my Colorburst in a variety of ways, but rarely do I use them in the original way I was taught- with a stencil!  So I grabbed a few colors and a stencil with a bold, open design and set out to create some backgrounds.  One inking got me a variety of background (with multiple spritzes & flips) and this card features one of the flip designs.

butterfly wonder (1)

My card is very simple- I really just wanted to showcase the background!  I also knew I had these Prima butterflies in my stash, and I’ve been mesmerized by the butterflies in our yard lately.  We have a butterfly bush that is almost done blooming, but they still love it!  The blossoms are purple, like the butterfly on my card.

I inked my edges and stamped my sentiment (love this set by Tim Holtz!) with Distress Ink.

I made more cards from this batch of backgrounds as well, which I’ll share with you next week!  Hope you have a creative one!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 60}

I know I’m not the only one who feels like August is flying by… and while I’m looking forward to cooler days and all the beauty of autumn, I’m not quite ready to let go of summer!  So today I have another card using almost the same products as last week’s card, but with a totally different feel.  This one embraces the colors of the sun, with a generous dose of Abandoned Coral Distress Ink (LOVE).

summer thoughts (1)

I used the same sand & sea Tim Holtz die, but added some fun crackle to the seahorse and tangerine paint to the sand dollar.  The sentiment is also from the same have faith stamp set that I used!  I created a background with a stencil and a splattering of Color Burst and a border with some washi tape.  I had a few strips of watercolor paper from trimming various projects and created a fun weave with them to anchor my background.  One of the wildflower dies transforms itself into sea weed on todays card 🙂

summer thoughts (2)

Sure makes me wish I was at the beach, or at least headed there!  I hope your summer included some beachy days, or some other fun adventure that let you relax and enjoy yourself!

Have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
