Color Burst

Tuesday with Tara {take 47}

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you’ve had a great weekend!  I’m back with another Crazy Bird card, this one will probably remind you of one I shared a while ago… the techniques are all the same, but I mixed things up with color and a different bird stamp as well.

The background on this card got away on me a bit, so it’s not as ‘clean’ looking as the other card, but the extra drips of color are pretty fun!  I made a note to use less water and Color Burst to start with, and add more if needed later on!

Here’s another look at my little crazy bird- his body was colored up with a subtle spritz of Color Burst as well, then I added some detail and color by picking up excess ink off my kraft sheet.  Stickles & Glossy Accents added the finishing touches to this crazy cutie.

(materials and techniques are all the same as you’ll see on this post)

Have a fabulous week- see you next Tuesday!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!

FlowerBurst (2)

This week I have a simple card with a beautiful sentiment (by Stampendous- stamped on a Sizzix die cut) and colorful flowers… that started out as simple WHITE paper flowers and had themselves kicked up several notches with a generous sprinkling of Color Burst!  Once I settled on my card layout, I selected a few colors of Color Burst.  I set an assortment of flowers on a white piece of cardstock and misted it all with water before squeezing a bit of Color Burst onto the flowers.  I spritzed again with water and then dried the flowers with a heat tool.  I used just one shade of Color burst on each flower (and the die cut Sizzix butterfly) but I love how you can see all the sprinkles that work together to compose each shade.

I made a few cards using this design- here’s some close ups of the flowers on each of them:

Each card was finished with touches of bling from my stash, and some of them had bits of glitter added as well… hope you like my cheery cards!  I love the possibilities to ink white paper flowers with Color Burst!  It gives a very unique look, different from using spray inks or Distress Ink and an applicator.  Hope you like it!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Bird Thoughts (2)

Happy Tuesday!  I’ve got a simple card to share with you today!  I recently colored up a few Crazy Birds images and saved them for some quick cards, like this one.  I noticed that Color Burst has arrived in the shop (yay!) so thought I’d use them on today’s card!

For the card background, I cut a piece of watercolor paper to size and spritzed it with water, then sprinkled a few bits of Color Burst in yellows and orange into the puddles.  I mixed them a bit with a wet paintbrush, then dried it all with a heat tool.  I can’t tell you enough how much I love the way the colors blend together… so fun to play with!  Since I’d already colored up my main image, I just selected a sentiment (and oldie from my stash, by the artist that made this great set!) and arranged the pieces on my background.  A bit of bling finished it all off after I attached it to a black card base.

Here’s a few more shots- I love that it’s spring and I can take photos in the yard 🙂
