Tuesday with Tara {take 69}

Happy Tuesday!  I’ve got one more autumn card for you today… it’s a simple one that uses some of the pieces from my Blessings Banner I shared a couple weeks ago.

autumn-together-2

I love when I’ve got pieces left from a project that I can put to use on a tag or card, and even more so when it comes together quickly and easily!  My parent’s anniversary was last week so I was determined to get a card in the mail so it would arrive on time (crossing my fingers it did!).  I used the same red cardstock my leaf was cut from to cut these words by Tim Holtz (I stuck some strips of Sookwang/Be Creative tape to the back side of the cardstock to make it easier to adhere these intricate words.  Next time I’ll use wider tape, which I found after I was done. lol).

The printed paper was part of my pennants that had been trimmed for layering, it already had some small holes punched in it, so I wrapped my twine through those to add a bow and rest my leaves in it.

A bit of Distress Ink through a simple stencil gives a bit of extra detail to make the rest stand out.  I love how the bronze Distress Stain shimmers on the leaves- I think these will always be one of my fave Tim Holtz dies!

I hope you can take some time today to enjoy what is left of the beautiful autumn colors where you live… have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 67}

Happy Tuesday, and I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!  I’m kinda a day late on this one, but I think the project I’m sharing today can be left on display for as long as autumn hangs on, until you switch up for winter/Christmas decorations!  Today I’m sharing a BLESSED banner I made to hang on our mantle this autumn.  In my typical last minute fashion (please tell me I’m not the only one!) I got it finished and hung just a couple days in advance of our Thanksgiving dinner 🙂

We have a wood stove instead of a traditional fireplace, so the vent doesn’t allow my banner to hang quite as low as I’d like it to, but I’m still pleased with how it looks!  I’ve used canvas and printed cardstock pennants by Prima for the base of my banner, and embellished quite simply with wooden letters (inked with Distress Ink) and die cut shapes.  I selected a few colors of cardstock and added a light misting of Distress Stain (each got a tone on tone mist as well as metallic Antique Bronze) and cut some Tattered Leaves (Sizzix/Tim Holtz) and hearts.  A few paper Prima flowers add some extra texture to some of the pennants.  I’ve tied them all together with one of my fave silk ribbons from my stash as a finishing touch.

Here’s a closer look at the individual pennants:

I hope you like it!  It was a fun project!

Inky hugs,

Tuesday with Tara {take 64}

Today I have a simple card, dedicated to all the amazing friends I have back in BC, whom I’ve been missing a lot lately.

I created another cut out card background, using another die from the set I featured last week.  I then inked over the pre-cut background with abandoned coral Distress Ink, using an ink applicator through a stencil.  I cut the friends sentiment from a scrap of the watercolor background paper and added a stamped sentiment with the same coral ink.  I kept trying to add details or another color into the mix, but I love the simple, monochromatic feel I ended up with here.

sometimes simple is the very best way to go!

Sending inky hugs,
