Tuesday with Tara (take 73)

Happy Tuesday friends!  I hope you`ve had a creative week and are ready to keep the inspiration flowing…winter-deer1-1

I love simple cards for Christmas- it`s better to actually send a handmade card than to just make them and hang on to them (though I`ve done a lot of that over the years!)  It`s a good thing this card is simple, because I`m having keyboard issues and will have to keep this post short 🙂  I love using white on Christmas cards, and chose to focus on a pearly white deer for this card, with a colorful background created with Color Burst on watercolor paper.  I created a several backgrounds in one sitting, then selected the one I wanted to go with this die cut.  The snowflake was added with white texture paste, which I sprinkled a bit of chunky glitter on while it was wet.  I`d forgotten how it picks up the ink color behind it as it dries, so added a bit of white embossing powder when I started to notice it fading on me.  After melting the powder, I ended up with a unique distressed looking snowflake, to which I added some bling to make it stand out.

A combo of ribbon, die cut sentiment and sentiment stickers finish off this simple card, which I mounted on a kraft card base.  Hope you like how this came together- I love the color possibilities when you pull out Color Burst!  I definitely ended up with inky fingers after making these pretties…

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 71}

Happy Tuesday!  As promised, I’m starting to share some Christmas cards with you this week!  If you haven’t already started creating your holiday cards it’s not too late… today’s is a pretty quick one to put together once you gather the pieces- and I made it in two different palettes to prove it 🙂  I started with Tim’s Fresh Brewed coffee die and looked for a Christmas sentiment to fit the sleeve portion of the die.  I heat embossed a sentiment by Hero Arts that fit nicely and edged all the pieces with Distress Ink.

I decided to find a sketch for my card design, and selected one on Pinterest that I liked.  From there I chose patterned papers and put it all together:

I really like the simple design and the bits of gold add a touch of bling 🙂

Here’s my second card with the same design:

Thanks for checking out my simple cards!  Hopefully you are inspired to start on your Christmas cards if you haven’t already- they don’t have to be complicated to be beautiful and appreciated 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 69}

Happy Tuesday!  I’ve got one more autumn card for you today… it’s a simple one that uses some of the pieces from my Blessings Banner I shared a couple weeks ago.

autumn-together-2

I love when I’ve got pieces left from a project that I can put to use on a tag or card, and even more so when it comes together quickly and easily!  My parent’s anniversary was last week so I was determined to get a card in the mail so it would arrive on time (crossing my fingers it did!).  I used the same red cardstock my leaf was cut from to cut these words by Tim Holtz (I stuck some strips of Sookwang/Be Creative tape to the back side of the cardstock to make it easier to adhere these intricate words.  Next time I’ll use wider tape, which I found after I was done. lol).

The printed paper was part of my pennants that had been trimmed for layering, it already had some small holes punched in it, so I wrapped my twine through those to add a bow and rest my leaves in it.

A bit of Distress Ink through a simple stencil gives a bit of extra detail to make the rest stand out.  I love how the bronze Distress Stain shimmers on the leaves- I think these will always be one of my fave Tim Holtz dies!

I hope you can take some time today to enjoy what is left of the beautiful autumn colors where you live… have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
