Tuesday with Tara {take 92}

Happy Tuesday!

In just a couple weeks we will be celebrating Easter… and spring is in the air (the green grass behind my card is my actual lawn!!!) so I wanted to ink up some stamps that had never been inked.  Even though I love these Tim Holtz blueprints designs, I usually forget I have them until after Easter!

This year I decided to combine the bunny & egg images with seasonal chit chat stickers and some book pages that I prepared with white gesso… I also wanted to play some more with my Distress Oxide inks 💛

My card base is 5.5″ square, and I started with a stenciled background featuring Distress Oxide. I absolutely love how crisp & vibrant these inks are on kraft… especially after they are misted with water. Here’s a look of the background before I layered my stamped images over it. You can see little splatter marks if you look closely:

I added a bit extra over a doily mask in the top left corner afterwards to balance things out.  As I mentioned, I stamped the images on gesso primed bookprint and it was interesting seeing how soft the Distress Oxide came across on it (applied with an inking tool).

With the egg, I also painted some blue shadow using water mixed with the Distress Oxide ink. I learned that you can lift/remove color with water as well by dabbing a rag over wet spots. Pretty cool technique I will try again!  I splattered the same blue in the background as well, and added some raised sparkle details with Nuvo drops.

I inked around the bunny image, leaving him to be white chocolate 🙂   A few details finish off the card- a chiffon flower by Prima, a fun metal clip with some distress dyed Crinkle ribbon. Hope you like it!

Happy Tuesday!

I’ve got a simple card to share with you today- it’s striking with some bright colors and die cut words paired with pretty patterned paper.
IMG_9364

I wanted to try pairing the “hello” with another dies from my collection and this script seemed perfect, especially when I found this fun butterfly print in one of my Prima 6×6 paper pads! I applied a heavy layer of Distress Ink with ink blending tools to the cardstock, then misted and splattered water on it for texture.  I love these shades of orange/coral together ❤

Because of all the details in the patterned paper, I kept everything else very simple. It would be a great layout to feature a stamped pattern as well. So many possibilities 🙂

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have a set of thank you cards to share with you- this post is a bit heavy on photos, so I’ll keep the words to a minimum to even things out a bit 🙂

IMG_9366
I found myself needing some new Thank you cards for my stash, but when I started on two cards it turned into four… so I decided to share them all with you!  I’ve used a variety of paints and stencils on tags to serve as a focal point for my cards. I squeezed a bit of lime and white paint onto a tag, then used an old gift card to scrape the paints across the tags. A little paint goes a long way, so I grabbed some more tags and kept going!
IMG_9369

Here’s a few shots from my process- added collage papers, applied Distress Ink over a mask, then added gold paint through a stencil.

I finished off the background with brown Distress Ink applied through a honeycomb stencil.

IMG_9370

While the tags were drying, I die cut some shapes from cardboard and painted them gold as well.  I finished them up with a mix of wire, jute, and embellishments…

IMG_9367

One the tags were complete, I added them to blank cards which I had stamped thank you on. I love how they are all so similar and yet unique. I also love that some of them are already in the mail for much needed thank yous!

Hope you enjoyed my cards and maybe they’ll inspire you to stock your card stash…
