Tuesday with Tara {take 396} Nailed It!

Happy Tuesday!   Today’s card is some simple krafty fun I shared with viewers of my Crafty Facebook Live on Saturday!  I showed the card I made for our Tongue-in-cheek blog hop and then made this similar card with the same stamp set by Sunny Studio, called Tool Time.

This little stamp set is perfect for guy cards with some clever puns, and the simple designs are fabulous for creating an easy background with repeat stamping.  For this card, I stamped on a Kraft card base in Ground Espresso Distress Ink.  I started with the largest image- the hammer, then filled in the empty spaces with “congrats” and the nail image.  The trick to these backgrounds is to rotate your designs so they fill in the space.  If you know a large part of the background will be covered up, as with the tag on this card, you can leave that part empty and focus on what the edges of your space will look like.

I used a pre-printed tag for this, to keep things simple and add some subtle texture.  You could absolutely create a subtle background yourself- and this might actually be a fun project to do just to have some on hand!  I played around with the layout of the text for my tag and added some die cut numbers I had from last week’s project, which worked out perfect since I used this as a graduation card as well!  I added some quick color with Distress Watercolor Pencils & finished off the tag with a bit of Glossy Accents on the hammer and some Rock Candy stickles (the stickles are discontinued, but you can still buy the mica glitter) on the numbers!

It’s simple fun, perfect for any guy who needs congratulating!  I hope you like it and I hope you enjoyed the live as well!  If you haven’t already, please check out our current HOP and drop us some comments to let us know you did (and have a chance to win a prize)!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 387} You’ve Bean on My Mind

My Apologies… I started typing this post for Valentine’s Day and must have been interrupted, because nearly a week later it was never published!

I’ve used some Tim Holtz dies- Cafe Colorize & Falling Hearts along with a whole lot of papers from my scrap bin in shades of red & pink.  Many of them had a bit of extra Distress Sprays & Distress Oxide Sprays added to give some fun texture!

After assembling the to-go cup, I layered it onto a tag which I inked up with Distress Ink- shades of Saltwater Taffy & Kitsch Flamingo are perfect for a muted blend, with a touch of inky splatter over it to finish things off!

In all it’s inkiness, I actually kept this card pretty much CAS, though it has a bit of grunge to it 🙂 I stamped a simple heart background (similar to this one) on the Kraft base and added a sweet sentiment (this is an older one from MFT) on the tag.

On a personal note- I’ll be taking a bit of a break from my Tuesday with Tara posts here on SNS, life is looking a bit crazy for the next while!  I’m hoping I’ll find some time to make creative things still, so watch for any tid-bits I may share on my Instagram page!   You may still see some fun throwback posts here for the next bit (I always enjoy seeing which cards Raya selects to share!) so perhaps you won’t even notice I’m away 😉

Inky hugs,

Tara

Day 12 {Tuesday with Tara take 379} Hero Arts

Happy Tuesday, and happy Day 12 of the SNS 12 Days of Christmas!  I get to feature another classic stamp company… and yet I’m not using a single stamp on my project today!

I’ve chosen to share a perfect last minute gift wrap idea, featuring a fabulous Hero Arts stencil & a fun die cut set.

Aren’t these gift tags adorable? I just had to use both shapes included in this die set (though I confess the coffee mug is what drew me in!)  I have a ton of creative ideas for these… but Christmas is coming in less than a week, y’all.  I just simply ran out of time!
These little pillow boxes were found at a dollar store and are a perfect blank canvas for so many things.  Since I love using Distress Oxide Inks on Kraft, I chose to pull out some Distress Oxide Sprays to use with this snowflake stencil.  Any holiday design, or even something like simple polka dots, would be perfect for these little packages!  I’ve used Rustic Wilderness for my green & Lumberjack Plaid for the red.   I love the splotchy oxidation on these snowflakes!

Even though I was going ultra simple for these packages & tags, a touch of glitter for the toppers didn’t take me any more time and really looks fabulous.  Sheer ribbon to tie it all together adds a bit of softness.

I’ve got plans to do more of these in different colors- they are perfect for a small gift or some Christmas cash!  They are actually *just* large enough for a simple A2 sized card to fit inside them, as well!

Today you can take advantage of all 12 days of savings & surprises- including the newest, 25% off Hero Arts!  Check out all the fun details across social media (like instagram) and have fun shopping!

Inky hugs & Merry Christmas y’all!
