Tuesday with Tara {take 432} Wildflowers

You belong among the wildflowers.

Happy Tuesday!  Last week I got inky on my Crafty Live with the new Scorched Timber Distress, and I was determined to make something with one of my backgrounds for this week!   I kept things pretty simple and die cut one of the backgrounds (I believe this one features the two sprays together- Distress Spray Stain and Distress Oxide Spray) with my new Stitched Oblong STAX dies by MFT.  I love how the mix of the two sprays gives almost a dirty chalkboard effect.

I embossed a wildflowers sentiment (this is from an older Gina K set that it still in stock!) in white, then scattered a few mini brushstrokes flowers along one edge.  I’d pre-cut a variety of flowers in yellows & blue from some backgrounds so these were ready to go!

I added some subtle detail to the background with an Altenew stencil called “Leaf Bed” and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, then decided to add it to a coordinating envelope as well!  I added a few sequins as a finishing touch…

I hope this brings a bit of sunshine to your day, especially if you’re experiencing the endless days of winter wherever you are…

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 410} Growing

Happy Tuesday!

I fell in love with this Bloom with Grace stamp set by Altenew a while ago but somehow it kept getting set to the side while I worked on something else… the bonus to that is that when I needed a quick card this week I had a few ideas in mind already!   I splurged & got the coordinating dies (something I rarely do!) and it definitely helped me put this card together easily!

I stamped & colored the larger image in the set with Distress Watercolor Pencil Crayons, then cut it with the coordinating die.  I stamped a sentiment on a strip of green cardstock and then did some quick Distress Oxide Ink blending on a Kraft card stock base.  I kept the color heavier (freshly inked up) in the middle and faded it out toward the edges of the card.

I finished it off by splattering a bit of water over the ink, then added a few splatters of white spray (like this one).  A few vanilla sequins and a bit of thin twine finished it all off for me!

Hope you like how it all came together, I think I’ll make something similar with the smaller stamp and try out a few more ideas… watch for that on Instagram later this week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 407} Inky Bouquet

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing one card in two color palettes, featuring Inky Bouquet stamps by Altenew & Distress Spray Stains as the medium!

I love this set because it includes a gorgeous bouquet as well as some fun ink splatter stamps and a variety of beautiful sentiments.  I love the ink splats because, to me, they give permission for some messy, inky coloring!  I decided to start with white embossing the stamp on two different papers.  The first card, with a brighter color palette, was done on watercolor card stock.

I spritzed over the entire image with Saltwater Taffy Distress Spray Stain, then selected a few colors to blend with it for my watercolor painting.  You can watch the process on replay of my Facebook Live Crafty Class HERE.  For both cards, I tied it all together by adding some stamped splatters in the same ink I used for the sentiment.

As you can see, the second card has a much softer color palette.  I used Kitsch Flamingo as my starting place, but the main reason it’s lighter is the paper.  This one, a smooth white, absorbed the color more than the watercolor paper.

I did both cards side by side in my Facebook Live and it really helps to demonstrate the difference between them!  I encourage you to experiment with different materials in your stash to see how they respond to your techniques.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing these two cards side by side!  I really had fun making them!

Inky hugs,

Tara
