Let’s Drink!

Hey guys!  I hope that you have been taking part in the 30 day Random Acts of Cardness!  I love seeing everyone’s creations over at the Scrap’N Stamp Facebook Challenge Page.

I thought I would take part as well and for today’s card it is all about by two favourite things….coffee and wine!  Not sure about you guys but I sure am consuming a lot of both of these in my isolated world! Lol!

I challenged myself big time and decided to do a sketch and watercolour.  I began by simply sketching out a coffee mug and wine glass onto some Canson 140lb cold pressed watercolour paper.  I based the sketch off of my favourite mug and wine glass.  I don’t know about your guys…but I have to use stemless wine glasses as I am super clumsy!

I taped the watercolour sketch down onto my watercolour board with some purple tape.  This tape is perfect as it doesn’t rip the paper when you remove it.  I then used my Koi watercolour travel set and painted by using the wet on wet technique.  I made sure that my brush was good and juicy with water and then painted just the section of where I wanted the pigment to be.  Then I loaded some pigment onto my brush and let it bloom out into the water.  Make sure that you let each section dry so that the when you switch colours they don’t bleed into each other.

After the painted piece was finished and dried, I outlined the images with a black Copic liner and then I added some splatter to give the piece a bit more interest.

The sentiment I chose was from the Picket Fence Let’s Drink stamp set.  This set has so many fun sentiments that are perfect for cards that I want to send to my girlfriends!  I made sure that all the watercolour had completely dried overnight.  You can also use a heat tool if you don’t want to or have the time to wait.   I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine Claire Nocturne ink and backed it onto some pattern paper that I thought coordinated well.

This was a quick a fun card and I liked that I got out of my stamping comfort zone and created a one of a kind sketch for this card.

I look forward to seeing your “drink” inspired card creations!

Cheers crafty friends!
