Happy Tuesday! It’s hard to believe it’s already October and Thanksgiving is just around the corner…
Today I’m back with more autumn leaves (Tim Holtz’s Natures Wonder stamp set) and a simple resist technique. I stamped a variety of leaves and embossed them in white (you could also clear emboss on white cardstock), then applied a combination of Aged Mahogany, Crushed Olive & Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Inks over them using my ink applicator tool & blending foams. I spritzed a bit of water and added additional layers for extra texture, then wiped excess ink off the embossing powder with a slightly damp rag. The embossing creates a lovely resist effect and the white images really pop against the colorful background!
I’ve paired my background with the grateful leaf die set by Concord & 9th, as well as the coordinating lace leaf stamp. I inked the stamp in the same colors as my background, then misted it with water and layered the die over it. I painted on some Distress Rock Candy Stickles (I know, I’m sorry… they are discontinued, but I love these guys!) to brighten up the colors and add a bit of shimmer. Afterwards, I decided to add a second layer of the grateful die cut just to help it stand out from the background. I wrapped some textured ribbon around the card to layer the leaf on it, then I tied a bit of olive twine and a paintbrush charm by Ken Oliver to finish off my card.
This is my favorite time of year and I always struggle trying to make all the autumn projects I want to in the short amount of time we have… Leaves are falling all around me here, but few have actually changed colors on the trees. I can’t wait until we see all the beautiful ‘painted trees’ around us 🙂
Inky hugs,
Tara
My favourite time of year to but looks like we missed it this year!
