Tuesday with Tara {take 423} Coffee for Christmas

Happy Tuesday!  It’s that time of year when I realize I have way more ideas for Christmas cards than I have time to make them… I should probably try to be one of those people who makes them all year for next years cards, then they might actually get sent out to people 🙂 I was finishing up some in progress cards and thinking about what I should post when I realized that this is my LAST Tuesday post before Christmas- yikes!   So, I’ve decided to share one I had ready to go and save more for Instagram shares this week.  Knowing me I’ll still be making them this weekend and will just have posts ready to go for next year!

This card came about when I was playing with shades of blue and found this big Lawn Fawn Merry Christmas I bought last year and didn’t get around to using… doesn’t it look fabulous cut from aquamarine glitter!?  I’ve got a variety of blues happening here, but the Lawn Fawn Knit Picky paper is a fun addition too.  I wanted to take some drinks from Catherine Pooler’s Fall Calls for Latte’s stamp set and winterize them- so inking this one in blues & adding a little snowflake to it seems to have done the trick.  I added a few more tiny snowflakes & pearls from this fun set of Sprinkletz, which was meant for shaker cards (& I will probably keep using well into January!)

Final touches are some small die cut snowflakes and sheer ribbon from my stash, plus a little sentiment from MFT that I believe is discontinued.  I think there’s some definite winter vibes happening here in this simple, whimsical card!  Hope you like it!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 417} Harvest Wishes

Today I’m sharing another card made with the fabulous Sketchy Leaves by Tim Holtz!  This is a card that I made during a Facebook LIVE (catch the replay here if you missed it!). I used the same techniques as the card I shared here, though changed up the Distress Ink colors a bit as I was inspired by the freshly fallen leaves I gathered up!

I got a wee bit heavy handed with my water spritz on the big maple leaf, which made it almost solid and made it a perfect spot to add a sentiment!  I chose one from Fall Calls for Lattes by Catherine Pooler.  I thought about adding a coffee cup, but decided I really like it simple like this!  I hope you like it too, sometimes simple is best and the autumn colors really steal the show with this one!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 406} Kraft Pinwheels

Happy Tuesday!

I’m back sharing another Playful Pinwheels card (actually 2, since I did it in two color palettes) this time the focus is on Kraft.  I made the yellow version during my most recent Crafty Live on the fb page.  I used a variety of cut outs to piece this card together- focused on yellow blended backgrounds, book print & plain white card.   Once I had a random layout I like, I glued all the pieces in with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  I then grabbed some Distress Watercolor Pencil Crayons in 2 shades of yellow and added some scribbles in some of the empty spaces.   Once I brushed water over them I decided they needed a bit more dimension, so I added a bit of white & aqua to some of the colored petals.

I finished the card off with some subtle touches of glitter.  I’ve used (discontinued) Distress Stickles in clear Rock Candy.  You can purchase the loose glitter still here.  I added some of this to one pinwheel and to my die cut word, which I positioned next to it.  I’ve cut a Honey Bee Bitty Buzzword die twice for a it of dimension.

My second card was done exactly the same, just with a different portion of the inky blended background paper.  I’ve used the blue/green parts and colored with the same tones for a totally different feel to the card.

I love how they both came together, and the dimension you can see by layering the Kraft cut outs over a Kraft background.

These cards were a bit fussy, but not difficult to do.  I also got some great ideas from the ladies who tuned in LIVE with me, and I look forward to giving this card some more seasonal twists!

Inky hugs,

Tara
