Tuesday with Tara {take 385} Love is Brewing

Happy Tuesday!  I’m sharing a twist on a throwback card today… You may have seen this card before, but it’s never been shared here on the SNS Blog!  LOL.

I’ve used the Coffee House stamps by Anita Jeram together with Storyteller paper pad by Vicki Boutin.  I also pulled out my copic markers for the first time in a long time and there are smudges everywhere as evidence.  If you can just squint past the smudges, I hope you’ll like it!

These little mice (and this whole stamp set- which is full of cuteness you’re definitely going to see more of…) just make me smile, and are definitely relatable.  I feel this way about that first cup of coffee in the morning or about meeting up with a friend for a cup of chai.

Once again, sorry about the smudges- some weeks it’s a struggle just finding time to make anything and RE-making it was definitely not an option.  LOL. I think they are cute enough to compensate!

Inky hugs!

Tuesday with Tara {take 359} Bookmarks!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

I’m sure I’m not the only person who looks forward to summertime reading!  I used to read so much when I was younger, but I find these days I really have to make an effort and take time to read.  All too often, when I finally do take the time I end up using a piece of junk mail or a receipt for my bookmark.  Friends, we can do better than that!  ha!

Today I’m sharing some sweet & simple bookmarks I stamped.  I paired this little mouse by Anita Jeram (not currently in the online store- sorry!) with some paint splatters & a swoosh from this fun crafty set by Taylored Expressions.  I stamped the painty bits in Distress Oxide Ink, picking the colors based on the scraps of ribbon I could easily find on my work space to match with them!  Here I’ve used Mustard Seed and Wilted Violet.  Lastly, the mice were quickly colored in with some watercolor pencils and honestly, it’s as simple as that!

The stamp set comes with some cute little sentiments that I added to the bookmarks as well.   Before stamping, I cut the bookmarks out of some mini slimline stackables stitched dies by Lawn Fawn, and they are perfect for this!

Here’s a closer look at my cute little bookmarks!  Now I just need to make the time to use them…

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with tara {take 352} Refresh!

Happy Tuesday!  Today I’m sharing a card that is a sweet reminder to *refresh*!  This sweet kitten by Anita Jeram is getting ready to refresh some spring flowers, and maybe taking some time to enjoy the flowers will give you the refresh that you need!

I wanted to work with my new mini slimline stackable dies by Lawn Fawn for this card, so I chose to make a sweet 3×6″ card this time.  I’ve been playing around with a variety of sizes as mini slims lately, but this one (or something a little bit bigger) may be my new default now that I have these dies!

This little card size is not anything new for me, even though it is kinda a ‘trendy new thing’ in card making right now!  I have been making cards this size for around 15 years!  Looking back at my personal blog (which I used when I had a store in Williams Lake, BC) I found some to share from classes I taught in 2009.  I saw some as far back as 2007 when I looked a while ago, but the photos were kinda awful 🙂

I pulled out my Copics to color this cutie, experimenting with this light Kraft Cardstock as my base.  It was a bit hard to see how the blending would come out as I worked (the ink is much darker when wet than it is on white Cardstock!), but I was pleased with the result and impressed with how well even the light colors show up!

I dug through my dies to find some flowers that would coordinate nicely with the cute one on the watering can… and I found these ones from two different funky floral sets by Tim Holtz.  I cut them from a panel of Cardstock I did some ink blending on with a few shades of Distress Oxide Ink, then added a touch of glitter to the finished flowers.

Finally, I decided on some ombre layers to match the mix of colors and of course a bit of bling to add sparkle!

Hope you like this little cutie and that you take some time to refresh… whatever that means for you!

Inky hugs,

Tara
