Sa..weet…

Hello crafter’s, Kia here with you today. Are you hungry?

Every time I look at this card I want a cupcake, especially a chocolate cupcake. This image is from Colorado Stamp Company called Sweet Friend Cupcake, and of course, I just love it.

I coloured using Copic Markers. I made a colour swatch as I was colouring, as I wanted to make sure I liked the colours and they would work together.

I could not remember the name of the cupcake liner at the time, hence cupcake package. lol

I started my colouring with the liner, and as I always do I start to colour with the lightest colour going to the darkest colour, then back to the lightest colour. The only time I change this is if the image in small, then I start with the dark and move to the light.

When I finished the Copic colouring I added some decoration to the liner being Gelly Roll pens in white and gold, along with Copic Marker dots in RV69. On the cream I also added Gelly Roll pen in gold.

Once I finished with the colouring I fussy cut the cupcake out. On my card base I then stencilled using Distress Ink Mowed Lawn, lightly. I decided on the placement of the cupcake and cut it, attaching it to my card base using foam squares.

I finished with a few gumdrops and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock using Gold embossing powder, then attached with glue to the cupcake and a foam square to the card base.

On the inside of the card I again stencilled with the Mowed Lawn and stamped the sentiment with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black. I attached the left over piece of the cupcake to the right side. No waste here!

You Are Strong

Hello Crafters, Kia here with you today to share this card.

I have made this card for a very special long time friend who has had her Cancer return rather badly.

I started by heat embossing in white on Neenah cardstock this image from Colorado Stamp Company. As most of you know, this is a 6×6 stamp, and as I wanted an A2 card, using my Misti I arranged the stamp where I would get both the leaves, the stem and some flowers. I then die cut the panel using my Stitched Rectangle die.

I then turned my stamp pad over and dragged it across the cardstock several times in different directions to get good coverage. I used my Life Changing Brushes to add even more ink. Yes, we want ink saturation.

Once I have enough ink on I do not dry my piece, while still damp from the ink I begin to lift the colour with my paint brush and water. I am not using excessive amounts of water, but enough to make the paper shine while I remove the ink. I then pad the area with a dry paper towel, in clean areas for every flower.

The colours I used for the flowers are Distress Inks in Wilted Violet, and Squeezed Lemonade. I added in Nuvo Aqua Flow in Mango Mimosa and Fresh Green. For the flower centres I used Nuvo Aqua Flow in Evergreen Fern. On the leaves I used some dye ink from Wendy Vecchi called Make Art as I don’t have Gina K inks as of yet! I used a Buttercup and a Forget Me Not Blue, mixed it up and painted the leaves.

I then went over them with Distress Ink in Twisted Citron – I know, one would never guess that colour, but it worked perfectly. I did not want the leaves to take over, as they could have, so I made sure to keep hints of the green, but a very relaxed amount.

To finish up I added Nuvo Shimmering Pen to the Violet coloured flower leaves and the green leaves. It is beautiful IRL, and of course, I am hooked on it. I white heat embossed the sentiment, then used Picked Raspberry in Distress Ink to colour it in.

I added Be Creative/Scor-pal Tape to the back of my card panel along with fun foam, then attached it to the Neenah card base. For the sentiment I added some foam squares and attached to the card front.

I know my friend will love this, and it will make her happy, which is after all why I do what I do. I hope you have enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it.
