Sizzix Tim Holtz DT Kia

Winter Comfort

Kia here for day 20 of the Random Act of Cardness series. Our prompt word today is “Pine”.

For my card I am using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tall Pines and for my background  I used distress inks in Pine Needles and Chipped Sapphire. The Pines are die cut using Arches cold press watercolour paper, and the shadow below is cut from cardstock.

I put down the Pine Needles and spritzed with water, then smooshed my white card into the ink. Drying the piece between applications I did the same thing with the Chipped Sapphire ink. I tried to keep the piece moving for the ethereal look.

To add ink to the Pines I put down the Pine Needle ink and spritzed with water, then dragged the trees through the ink, continuing several times to ensure good coverage. In the mixture of ink I also spritzed in perfect pearls mixed with water for a bit of sparkle.

Using my heat gun I dried the Pine trees, then glued the trees together with the white card shadowing the green Pines.

Once the background was dry I glued it to my white card base using Tombow glue. I then added the Pine Trees with foam squares to add further dimension to the trees.

And to finish in my original Misti I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black using VersaFine Clair ink.

I really like the moody look of the card, with the background adding that cold winter feel. I hope you have enjoyed it as well.

Winter Magic

Hello all, Kia back with you today for our Random Act of Cardness Day 8, which is Trees.

For my card I have used the new Tim Holtz die that was recently released. Let me start with my background for this card. Using Distress Oxide inks and my blending brushes I blended on starting from the top Chipped Sapphire, Broken China and Tumbled Glass for the top portion.

For the bottom I used Dr Ph Martin’s Acrylic White paint, but any paint you choose will work. Once the paint was dry I added Nuvo Crystal drops along the snow for some sparkle, then splattered the background with the Acrylic paint.

I then die cut two pieces of the trees. For the shadow trees I coloured using Copics in G09 and G24. On the top level of trees I used Distress Inks in Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness.  I then glued the two pieces together using Nuvo Adhesive and splattered with the Acrylic paint, continuing the snowfall over the trees.

When all was dry I attached my background to a navy card base using Nuvo Adhesive, then attached the trees using foam squares cut up to fit.  I also should have mentioned my card is 5.25 x 5.25. The background panel is 5 x 5.

Once all was attached and dry I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Blue Belle. I really like how this card turned out, and I hope you have enjoyed it as well. I thank you for visiting us today.
