Wonderful Color Bursts!

Happy Friday, everyone! Nancy E here once again to share a colourful card I created using a great stamp and die set from Concord & 9th as well as the wonderful Ken Oliver Color Bursts pigment powders.

I have to admit that I bought these pigment powders MONTHS ago, played with them once, and put them away in a drawer. I decided to play with them again this past weekend while my husband and one son were watching Game of Thrones.

I started out by covering my watercolour paper with some anti static powder and placing it in my stamp positioning tool.  I then stamped the big stamp from the Concord & 9th Wonderful Floralsset in Versamark ink 3 times to ensure I had good coverage and then I embossed it with white embossing powder.

I pulled out my non-stick craft mat to protect my surface and used a red, blue and yellow Color Burst and “salted” the colours all over the stamped piece.  I then used a fine mist sprayer and spritzed water all over the watercolour paper, watching the colours bloom and grow.  It’s truly an amazing sight to see!

Once I had good water coverage, I dabbed off the excess with a paper towel.  I then set the panel aside to dry and made a few more using different colours.  I was looking at the panels and the clean and simple part of me felt that the use of colour was way too overwhelming so I used the Concord & 9th matching die to cut out the image.

For the one card, I used the Wonderful word die to cut out some black letters to layer on top of the watercolour panel and added some Nuvo Shimmer Pen to create some shine.  For the other I stamped the word “friend” from the same Concord & 9th stamp set on kraft cardstock and embossed it with white embossing powder before creating a flag-ended tag that I put on top with foam dots.  I also added some white dots and splotches to the kraft card to create a little more visual interest.

I created three backgrounds and two cards… and if you’d like to see more photos, please head on over to my blog, Nancys Creative Mess.

Wonderful Alcohol Pearls

Happy Monday everyone!  Nancy E here with another very clean and simple card featuring the Tim Holtz Alcohol Pearl inks.  For more photos and a step by step “how to”, please check out my blog.

For this card, I used the Alcohol Pearl #2 Ink Set and some of the Alcohol Ink Refill Pads that I taped on to a ruler.  I added some of the Blending Solution so that the inks would flow and blend.  I tried this first on a piece of glossy cardstock but really prefered how it looked when I used the Yupo Paper that is recommended for the Alcohol Inks.

I LOVE how these inks have a wonderful built in shimmer.  It’s subtle, but OH so pretty!!!

I then used the word die from the Concord & 9th Wonderful Florals die set to cut out the letters on both the Yupo paper and out of a piece of black cardstock.  I was careful to hold on to the centres of the letters cut from the Yupo paper.  I put scotch tape along the back of the Yupo paper so that I could stick the black letters in to the Yupo paper.  I added in the centres of the letters that I cut from the alcohol background.  I added a dark grey mat behind the top layer and added it all on to a white card.  I added three gems for a little added dimension.

I think I need to get some more colours so I can play some more!!

Happy Crafting!

You’ll Owl-Ways Be My Favorite

Happy Thursday everyone!  I hope you’re having a spectacular week and have found some time to get creative!  I have been loving seeing what my fellow design team members have been creating in the last weeks.  So many fun projects!!

I felt like playing with a Concord & 9th Turnabout Stamp while in my creative space this week… and even though the punny blog hop comment winners were posted yesterday, I wanted to play with this great MFT stamp set.  I am truly not a big fan of birds (pictures, stamps or real) but I did like this owl set enough to buy it.

The items I’ve used are Concord & 9th Bitty Burst Turnabout, the Turnabout Jig, MFT I’m Owl Yours stamps and dies, Memento Tuxedo black ink and Versafine Claire ink.  I coloured the image with some Copics and used some inks from my stash on the Turnabout stamp.  And of course you can’t really use these Concord & 9th Turnabout stamps with a stamping platform of some sort.

Please head over to my blog if you’d like to see some more details about how I created this fun and colourful card.
