Elegant Asters Watercoloured

Hi stamping friends and welcome back. Sandi here – it’s a new month with a new challenge. My share is created with the Gina K Designs Elegant Asters Watercoloured.
Our Theme this month it’s all about Water colouring and if you need some inspiration for that, check out the Design Team Blog Hop from last week – click here

Gina K Elegant Asters Watercoloured

We have a huge selection of watercolour mediums in our stamping world and for today’s share I decided to use the Nuvo Shimmer Powders.

The Nuvo Shimmer Powders are a unique combination of shimmering mica powder and a vibrant dry pigment. You lightly tap out the powder over your surface and lightly mist it to add water and activate the pigment. It’s FABULOUS to watch.

For today’s card I’m doing the Embossed Resist Technique. I stamped the images and white heat embossed them onto the Ranger Distress Watercolor paper. Then I laid the piece into my Waffle Flower Water Media Mat.

TIP HERE – you do not want this pigment flying around all over the place, when water activates it, it stains light surfaces, which is why I always work on my Media Mat as it has raised sides, so it contains my water too.

You can move the color around with a wet paint brush and you can also paint with it. Just tap a small amount of the pigment into one of the palette squares, add a bit of water, and paint away….it’s great for adding highlights to special areas, or darkening leaves as I did here.

There are 13 colors of Nuvo Shimmer Powders to choose from. I used Solar Flare (yellow) and Falling Leaves (light green with a bit of blue in it), and of course when yellow and green combine, they create a pretty blue.

I cut my watercolor paper to 4-1/2 x 6-1/2, the black mat is 1/8″ bigger and then it’s mounted to a 5 x 7 card base in Gina K Applemint card stock.

I White embossed the sentiment on a scrap of black which I die cut out with the stitched squares dies and the flower large flower is also cut out and overlayed (because I messed up the flower center, haha). The flower centers are dotted with Ebony Black Nuvo Crystal Drops and the final embellishment, a few gold sequins.

I hope you will give these Shimmer Powders a go, they are really quite lovely to play with.

Easy Alcohol Pearl Backgrounds

Hi stamping friends and welcome back. It’s Sandi here and today I’m sharing how I created these fast and fun Alcohol Pearls Backgrounds for my cards.

Tim Holtz introduced the new Ranger Alcohol Pearls back in January at Creativation 2019. There are 12 glorious colors to choose from and after you see my video and how much fun and easy these are, I’m sure you are going to want to play too.

Alcohol Ink Backgrounds for Scrap 'N Stamp

Yes, they are similar to using the Mixative with the regular Alcohol inks, but the difference is, the pearlization is blended right into the ink, wherein with the Mixative, it is added on top and creates a white sheen on the paper. With the pearls, you get a beautiful true color with a pearlized finish on it.

I shared a video below so I’m not going to go into too much detail. The colors for the first card are Tranquil and Sublime and what I call the “blotchy” technique where you can use the Alcohol Ink Mini Applications to spread the ink around on the Yupo Paper and blotch it out by adding more ink and blending solution.

I’ve also used the beautiful My Favorite Things “Flowers In Bloom” Stamps and Die set for today’s projects, LOVE water colouring these flowers and today’s are done with the Gansai Tambi watercolours. You could also use water pan sets, watercolour pencils/crayons, Tonic Shimmers, Ken Oliver Colour Bursts, DWM Scribble Sticks, Zig Markers, Tombow Markers or Distress Inks, the list is endless.

Card #2 uses Enchanted and Deception colors blended together on the left and the yellow Alchemy on the right – they are FABULOUS together.
I black heat embossed the flower images onto my watercolor paper to help control the paints and provide a nice deep black outline to make them pop from my backgrounds.

For card #3 I used Mineral and Smolder with LOTS of blending solution to create the run technique or as I like to call it the “waterfall” technique – it’s my fav!

Here’s the short video I created to show you how I like to play with these inks. You can watch it here or over on my YouTube Channel in H.D.

Penny Black Harmony

Hi crafting friends, Sandi MacIver here and I’m honored to share a new card idea with you today created with the New – Just arrived Penny Black Harmony stamp.

Scrap 'N Stamp Penny Black Harmony

It was LOVE at first sight with this stamp and I decided to watercolor it with my Tombow Markers.

I started by black heat embossing the image into a piece of watercolor paper.

Then I colored the image with my Tombow Markers. The Tombow Marker Dual Tip Markers are water-based and create fabulous watercolor images combined with a water brush pen. Just add some color and blend with the water brush – Yep, it’s that easy!….
TIP – do a small section at a time though, so the ink doesn’t dry out, then it becomes hard to move.

The colors I chose are #379, #403, #291 From THIS SET of 9, and Chocolate Brown #969 to do the shadows and leaves.

Here’s a video showing how I like to watercolor with these fabulous markers….it’s super easy. You can view it here, or in HD over on my my YOUTUBE Channel .

The video also walks you step by step through the creation of today’s card.

Next I used two dies from the Taylored Expressions Stitched Square Stacklets to create a frame for my pretty flowers.

I white heat embossed a sentiment on a scrap of black card stock and then created a watercolor background with my Gansai Tambi watercolors #47 – brown and #57 Teal Blue.

Finally, after putting the card together, I added a few drops the NEW Nuvo Stone Drops in Gold Rush – you are so going to love this color for your vintage cards….it Rocks!

Ok, that’s it for me today. I hope you enjoyed my Penny Black Harmony Card and I have listed the products I used today below in affiliate links directly to the Scrap ‘N Stamp site.
