Best In Show

Hello, crafty friend! It’s Deb here, with a new card for the Scrap ‘N Stamp Design Team. I hope you’ve been reading & enjoying the fabulous projects shared by the rest of the team. I’m always blown away by the creativity everyone shares.

Today I’m sharing a stamped & die cut card, with some ink blending. It features the My Favorite Things (MFT) ‘Best in Show‘ stamp set and coordinating dies.

Best In Show

You don’t have to travel to Westminster to see these amazing pups in action!

Best in Show

The Best in Show set includes 3 adorable dogs images, plus an agility course, and a number of great sentiments. Everything a dog lover needs for an adorable and inspiring card.

BACKGROUND DETAILS

Create your background on a panel of white cardstock. Smooth is best for good blending. Use a Blender Brush and some Distress Oxide ink pads to create a scenic background. For the grass, start by blending on Cracked Pistachio. Over that, blend on some Mowed Lawn, for depth.

Leave a bit of white space above the grass, and blend on a strip of Mustard Seed Distress ink, for some sunshine. After all, it’s a happy day!  Above the grass, blend on some Tumbled Glass ink, and on top of that, add some Broken China Distress Oxide. Now you have your background done, set it aside to work on your images.

IMAGE DETAILS

On a separate piece of white cardstock, stamp the images from the Best in Show set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. You can use your favourite colouring medium; I chose to use some alcohol markers.  After colouring the images, use your die cutting machine with the coordinating MFT Best in Show dies for each one.

Use a large oval die for the background. I decided that a bit more interest was needed for the background. so I added some grass. Take a strip of white cardstock, and blend Cracked Pistachio Distress ink onto it. Use the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border die, and die cut the strip of grass.

Stamp the sentiment onto a strip of white cardstock in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, and heat set it with Clear embossing powder and a heat tool.

LAYER IT TOGETHER

Attach your oval background panel to a bright yellow cardstock panel, using foam tape. Now, arrange your focal images, and attach them with foam tape or squares. Tuck in some pieces of the die cut grass strip you created; cutting small pieces and attaching them with a Quickie Glue Pen.

Add the sentiment strip across the top left of the images. Finally, you can attach your front panel to a dark green card base.

The combination of blended background, plus popped up die cuts adds loads of dimension to this fun card! Keeping the colours bright & fresh makes it a happy scene.
