Tuesday with Tara {take 117}

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s card is an autumn inspired ‘pocketful of posies’- a simple gift card holder/card combo that you can put together quickly and easily using die cuts like these vintage inspired botanicals by Tim Holtz!

I started by stamping text from the ‘kind is classy’ set by Concord & 9th on olive card stock and highlighting the script ‘courageous’ with my fave Honey Gold Nuvo Glitter Drops.  My card background is a fun coffee filter paper I created way back at Easter, and I used it as my color inspiration.  I cut a large square layer of olive, added a smaller brown layer and adhered the stamped piece on three sides to function as a pocket.

I pulled out a variety of yellow florals & butterflies from the Botanicals Layers by Tim Holtz and played around with the arrangement until I was pleased with it.  I wanted the gift card folder (which was an old one pre-printed from Starbucks) to blend in nicely, so I adhered one of the die cuts so it could slide behind it.  I wanted as much variety and texture as possible, so made sure to adhere the die cuts at various angles and with a bit of overhang at the edges.  I also added a bit of those Nuvo Glitter Drops to the pieces to tie it all together 🙂

Here’s what the card looks like when the gift card folder is removed.

Because most of the pieces for my card were pre-cut and pre-printed, this card was assembled very quickly once I settled on a design!  Stamping, adding glitter and edging with Distress Ink are all touches that allow me to feel like I didn’t cheat when I made this simple card 🙂  I love the ‘pocketful of posies’ concept and would like to try it with some other color combos from this set of die cuts– there’s a LOT of shapes in each package, making it a great value!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope something here today inspires you to get creative… or at least inky!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s card is very simple… but it features one of my favorite things, coffee, together with some great images from Concord & 9th.

The coffee spill effect on my central point was created with the splatter/shadow type leaf shape from the set, inked with two colors of Distress Ink and misted with water.  It’s kinda a funky shape thats fun to use behind the sentiment instead of behind the lace leaf that it was designed for!

I used a shimmery silver embossing powder over brown ink and it ended up somewhat translucent over the text and the little heart on the coffee cup.  I decided to play up that shimmer and use silver glitter paper, bling and some brown crinkle ribbon to complete the card.

For a neutral colored card, there’s actually quite a bit of shimmer going on!  The background of my card was simply stamped, repeating the sentiment in a staggered fashion in two different shades of brown Distress Oxide Ink.  I added a few hearts to fill in open spaces and then inked over it all, going darker from the edges in, with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

We have much to be thankful for… but every day I start with being thankful for coffee 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have a simple, classy card to share with you that features a new stamp set by Concord & 9th, which is new in the online store!

Maybe you’ve noticed, but I really love sentiment stamps, and this set was so versatile and just so CLASSY, I couldn’t resist it!  (Apparently I’m not the only one who thought so, because it is currently sold out… but I’m sure Raya will be getting it back in stock again before long!)  I’ve paired it with a Tim Holtz floral die cut out of my card front and layered an inked piece of book paper behind it (I used Distress Oxide with lots of water over a gesso base) and added a strip of yellow paper and a small stamped & die cut butterfly to finish it off. (Did  you see that Tim Holtz released 12 more colors of Distress Oxide?  You can pre-order the bundle here & save!  So much inky fun!)

I kept the inside very simple, but wanted to share with you the inside sentiment that’s also included in the stamp set:

This will be my new go-to set for thank you cards!

I’ve got another card to share with you using this stamp set, so I encourage you to come back and see us on SATURDAY for a fun CANADA DAY BLOG HOP featuring a fab new beaver stamp & die set that’s in the store!  We’ve got some great artists and creative fun to share with you, so be sure to carve out some time on your Saturday morning to hop with us!  It’s our first blog hop, and we’re pretty excited about it!

Hope you have a great week!

Inky hugs,
