Tuesday with Tara {take 101}

Happy Tuesday!

First, can I just say WOW!  Y’all blew me away with your comments on my 100th post, it was such a joy & encouragement to see all of you stop by and I hope you keep coming back!  If you follow us on facebook, hopefully you caught the video of the draw last night – Congrats to the winner of the $100 gift certificate:

Karen

Beautiful work! Always love to see your ideas.

Happy shopping Karen!
‘Tis the season of graduations… Today I’m sharing a card that came about from assorted bits & pieces I had leftover from other projects!  I often color extra images and ink extra pieces when I’m creating, and sometimes I’m lucky enough to find a few that just work together… like this bird image, and the orange & blue background pieces!

I thought he’d be cute with the “crazy things” grad cap & diploma, so I pulled some color from the blue Colorburst background with a wet paintbrush to be certain it would match.  Once dry, I covered the cap with nuvo glitter drops 💙, which turned out pretty fabulous!  A bit of clear embossing paste through a stencil added more shine & texture to the background.  I kept everything else simple- a black stamped greeting (also by Dina Wakley) and some orange sheer ribbon finish it off!
Here’s a closer look at my little bird…

Hope you like it, thanks so much for stopping by!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 95}

Happy Tuesday!

Today I want to share with you a tag I finished up… it started as an experiment with Distress Oxide (the background is all faded jeans on a black tag) and I finished it up with some new botanical layers from The new idea-Ology release by Tim Holtz.

My background was inked and stenciled with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide on black, then I added some simply stamped roses by Dylusions over it.  I decided to bring some spring to it with butterflies and flowers from the new botanical layers- so many great pieces in this package, it is stuffed full with 83 printed & die cut shapes!

I tied everything together with a bit more yellow… I inked up some book print with gesso using Distress Oxide in fossilized amber & Distress Ink in wild honey.  I blended the colors with a wet paint brush then spritzed with water to see a bit of extra Oxide action 🙂

I selected a sweet sentiment from this “everyday greetings” stamp set by mama elephant and glued my layers together, then finished it off with yellow silk ribbon and touches of nuvo glitter drops.  These are a fun addition that’s like a mix of glossy accents & stickles!

Tuesday with Tara (take 75)

Oh deer… and happy Tuesday!  I`ve got another simple card to share, but a closer look reveals some fabulous shimmer that was hard to capture with a camera!
winter-deer2-1

Basic supplies for this card include a couple shades of Color Burst, a stencil & die by Tim Holtz and some shimmering things… Stickles glitter glue, pearly cardstock & clear texture paste with glitter mixed in.  Everywhere there was color I used a combination of blue & green, one of my fave combos!

winter-deer2-2

I`m not sure if it`s because of my all around efforts to keep Christmas simple this year, but I tried adding a variety of embellishments & sentiments to this card and it just seemed to look best just like this.  I`m crazy about the text in the background and didn`t want anything to take away from that- it is perfect in it`s shiny sparkly-ness 🙂

There are just two more Tuesdays before Christmas, I`ll be hard at work getting cards finished up and in the mail (trying something different this year LOL) and look forward to sharing with you my final projects in the weeks ahead!  Hope your days are full of the joys of the season, and a good measure of ink & sparkles!

Inky hugs,

Tara
