Tuesday with Tara {take 432} Wildflowers

You belong among the wildflowers.

Happy Tuesday!  Last week I got inky on my Crafty Live with the new Scorched Timber Distress, and I was determined to make something with one of my backgrounds for this week!   I kept things pretty simple and die cut one of the backgrounds (I believe this one features the two sprays together- Distress Spray Stain and Distress Oxide Spray) with my new Stitched Oblong STAX dies by MFT.  I love how the mix of the two sprays gives almost a dirty chalkboard effect.

I embossed a wildflowers sentiment (this is from an older Gina K set that it still in stock!) in white, then scattered a few mini brushstrokes flowers along one edge.  I’d pre-cut a variety of flowers in yellows & blue from some backgrounds so these were ready to go!

I added some subtle detail to the background with an Altenew stencil called “Leaf Bed” and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, then decided to add it to a coordinating envelope as well!  I added a few sequins as a finishing touch…

I hope this brings a bit of sunshine to your day, especially if you’re experiencing the endless days of winter wherever you are…

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 431} Cardinals in love

Happy Tuesday!

It feels like the new year just started, but here we are with Valentine’s Day right around the corner already!  I’ve got one more card to share with you that can be used for the occasion, though I left a sentiment off it so it could also be used for an anniversary or just a thinking of you card for a bird lover.

I created a gate fold A2 card, scoring it at 2.125 from each end so they meet in the center.  On the left panel, I added a strip of patterned paper with a text print from my current favorite 6×6 pad.

I really wanted to use this Cardinal Pair stamp by Penny Black at Christmas, but never got around to it… so I was pleased that die cutting it in a heart shape allowed me to cut out or hide the ornaments.  I simply stamped it in black ink and then inked the edges with Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink.  I had pre-made some mini Brushstroke Flowers in shades of coral, so I decided to use them along with some crinkle ribbon I had dyed to match.

Because I had the flowers pre-made, this card went together fairly quickly!  Here’s one more photo with my ribbon untied so you can see the gatefold.

This card would be really pretty with red flowers as well, especially if you colored the cardinals in their shades of red & brown!

I hope you enjoy it!  Have a wonderful week and Valentine’s Day, however you celebrate it (or Wednesday if you don’t).

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 429} Many Hearts

Happy Tuesday friends!

Today I’ve got a sweet & simple Valentine to share- once again I’m featuring die cut hearts in a variety of colors & sizes.  I had fun arranging the glitter & foil hearts in a “random” pattern I liked for this card, but it needed a little something more.

A textured white background, created using the layered dots dies from Tim Holtz was a fun addition.  It’s a set of 3 dies, but I’ve only used the top two layers for this card (the bottom one is solid).  I finished things off with a sentiment (also Tim Holtz) stamped in purple and assorted sizes of red & purple bling scattered across the card.

I find when you are working on white, it’s nice to add some texture and I think this worked out pretty well!  You would never know the background was part of a Halloween release… I hope it inspires you to pull out some of your supplies and maybe use them for a Valentine this year!

Inky hugs,

Tara
