Tuesday with tara {take 352} Refresh!

Happy Tuesday!  Today I’m sharing a card that is a sweet reminder to *refresh*!  This sweet kitten by Anita Jeram is getting ready to refresh some spring flowers, and maybe taking some time to enjoy the flowers will give you the refresh that you need!

I wanted to work with my new mini slimline stackable dies by Lawn Fawn for this card, so I chose to make a sweet 3×6″ card this time.  I’ve been playing around with a variety of sizes as mini slims lately, but this one (or something a little bit bigger) may be my new default now that I have these dies!

This little card size is not anything new for me, even though it is kinda a ‘trendy new thing’ in card making right now!  I have been making cards this size for around 15 years!  Looking back at my personal blog (which I used when I had a store in Williams Lake, BC) I found some to share from classes I taught in 2009.  I saw some as far back as 2007 when I looked a while ago, but the photos were kinda awful 🙂

I pulled out my Copics to color this cutie, experimenting with this light Kraft Cardstock as my base.  It was a bit hard to see how the blending would come out as I worked (the ink is much darker when wet than it is on white Cardstock!), but I was pleased with the result and impressed with how well even the light colors show up!

I dug through my dies to find some flowers that would coordinate nicely with the cute one on the watering can… and I found these ones from two different funky floral sets by Tim Holtz.  I cut them from a panel of Cardstock I did some ink blending on with a few shades of Distress Oxide Ink, then added a touch of glitter to the finished flowers.

Finally, I decided on some ombre layers to match the mix of colors and of course a bit of bling to add sparkle!

Hope you like this little cutie and that you take some time to refresh… whatever that means for you!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 333} Coffee Obsessed

Happy Tuesday!  Did you check out our Inspiration Hop over the weekend?  It’s not too late to check it out again- it was full of so many great projects from the team!  I’m back with another card using the Coffee House stamps by Anita Jeram together with Storyteller paper pad by Vicki Boutin.   I picked a totally different color combo for this card and I also am feeling a little more back into the groove with my Copic Markers again. LOL. Good to know I haven’t totally wasted that investment!

I couldn’t decide between a grey mouse or a brown mouse, so I did one of each and I then I settled on matching this pretty teal paper from the paper pad for the Bodum Coffee Maker.  I rarely even use mine (mostly when we’re camping) but now I really want one in teal like this!   I’ve used the Copic Markers BG13, BG15 & BG18 for this and it’s a fave color combo of mine.  It makes me happy… like coffee 🙂

I finished this card off with a few Clear Drops by Studio Katia– adding a tiny bit of sparkle by using Honey Gold Nuvo Glitter Drops as my adhesive.  I always like a bit of texture too, so a bit of thin twine tied in a bow to match the adorable coffee maker was a fun touch as well!  You can’t really see it well, but I added subtle dimension to the sentiment banner by adding some foam adhesive only in the center so it is flat at both of the outer edges, giving a bit of softness & height to it.

I hope you like it and that your day is more blessed than stressed 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 332} Celebrate!

Happy Tuesday & Happy New Year!  It’s my first Tuesday with Tara for 2022… it only seemed right to bling things up a bit and celebrate!

I love glitter paper for maximum bling with minimum mess, and the 6×6 pads by Memory Box give so many colors in one stack!   I’ve paired it with a solid Cardstock layer with the falling stars die by Tim Holtz cut from it, as well as some of the additional stars cut from the glitter paper itself.

I kept this card really simple, with an embossed sentiment by MFT and a little mouse who snuck in to help out with the sparkle, lifting a star as high as he can!

I had two things in mind when I was making this card… but I tried to keep it neutral enough that it could perhaps be used for a variety of occasions!  First, of course, was a card for the new year!  I try to make one every year and I tend to forget to send them to anyone, so… lol.  I think this will also be a cute card for a new baby or any other celebratory occasion!

It’s a pretty simple card overall, but it carries lots of punch with all the glitter!  I hope you like it and I hope 2022 is a year full of creative days for all of us!

Inky hugs,

Tara
