Clean and Simple Card

Heart Smile with Concord & 9th!

Good morning and welcome back! Laurie here sharing a card with a couple of new to me goodies from Concord & 9th! I used the Heart Smile Stamp Set along with the Heartstrings Dies to create my card. These are both from an older release but really are a classic. The Heartstrings Dies are particularly versatile and would make a great addition to your stash, if they aren’t already 🙂

This is a clean and simple card yet not a quick card! I die cut the heart with rays die out of pink cardstock. NOTE: this die only cuts the ray portions, not the entire heart. It’s great for adding a cool, heart shaped window onto a card front! I used a light pink alcohol marker to add a bit of shading to the inside pieces. This was the quick part. The time consuming part was adding foam adhesive to each die cut. If I was to do this again, I would have cut the die from craft foam as well!!!

I adhered each piece onto a scrap a panel of white cardstock. I used the negative portion (the piece I die cut the heart from) as a jig to align the pieces perfectly. I then trimmed the excess white cardstock. This resulted in one solid piece.

The sentiment comes from the Heart Smile Stamp Set. I used Versamark Ink and white embossing powder. I used a scrap of grey cardstock from my stash. I die cut the small heart from the Heartstring Dies out of the same cardstock and heat embossed that little detail image.

Now that all the pieces were complete, it was just a matter of putting everything together! I used tape runner adhesive for both the grey, sentiment strip and the heart.

I used a few grey embellishments from my stash and called the card done!

Thanks so much for stopping in today! Both the Heartstrings Dies and the Heart Smile Stamp Set are in stock!

Clean and Simple MFT Happy Birthday

Hello Everyone! Nancy E here with another Clean and Simple card for you using the MFT Impact Alphabet dies. I hope that some of you will feel inspired to try to put together a clean and simple card after seeing some of my creations….

MFT Impact Alphabet

There’s not much to say about this card.  I think it’s pretty straight forward how I put it all together.  The only piece you can’t quite see in the photo is that I used black fun foam as a layer behind the word “birthday” to create some extra dimension.  I have been known to glue 3 or 4 layers of cardstock together to create a similar look, but the foam was quicker and easier since it was only one more cut of the die.

Another fun thing I could have done with this card was inlaid the “HAPPY” letters in to the top panel of the card.

Items Used:

  • *Cardstock:  assorted from my stash
  • Tools:  Big Shot; Perfect Layers Tool
  • Dies:  MFT Impact Alphabet; Create A Smile Birthday
  • Etc: GinaK Connect Glue; black fun foam

Fast & Easy Card!

Hello!! Laurie here to share a very fast and easy card that still packs a punch! If you’ve ever needed a card ASAP, this technique is for you!

I started by stamping the Big Butterfly stamp from Taylored Expressions. This is a big, bold line art stamp that lends itself to numerous techniques. But like I said, this is going to be quick! I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink for the stamping but I regret that decision…I’ll show you why later.

After stamping, I took three different sizes of heart dies and cut out portions of the butterfly. My initial plan was to colour these positive hearts with my alcohol markers. But that would’ve taken too much time, haha!

I used a light pink ink along with a Picket Fence Blending Brush to apply ink to each die cut heart. I mounted the butterfly panel onto black cardstock to make it pop off the white card base.

To make the hearts pop up I used craft foam for a nice solid base. Now, this is where the mistake of using the Memento Ink came in to play. Because it is not a waterproof ink, it started to bleed when I added the shimmer pen. I tried to be careful but in the end, some of the lines were blurred.

I added a generous amount of Nuvo Crystal Glaze to each heart and stamped a “thank you” greeting from the From the Heart stamp set from MFT.

This card is definitely more impactful in real life. But if you’re looking for a quick and easy creation, this is it! Thank you for dropping by!

See you soon!

Laurie
