Tuesday with Tara {take 398} Beautiful You

Happy Tuesday!

Do you keep a scrap pile/basket of pieces you die cut or inked up and just never finished making something with?  Maybe the color didn’t come out right, or you smudged a stencil, or a detailed die cut didn’t quite cut all the way through…

Maybe today my card will encourage you to take a second look at what you have there, because ALL those things happened to various pieces here and I managed to pull it all together to make this card!  That being said, I don’t remember exactly which ink colors I used!  I just know it wasn’t right for the project I was trying to complete at the time.  I do know that I used a Distress Spray Stain and the splatter effect turned out really cool underneath the clear gloss texture paste- even if I bumped the stencil and smudged it.  In the end, I think it turned into a pretty neat card. Sometimes though cast-off pieces really are worth a second look!

To the best of my memory, I’ve used:

Blossom Stencil by Tim Holtz
PolkaDot Stencil by Tim Holtz
Green Distress Stain Spray
Brown Distress Ink
Inky hugs,
Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 395} Grad 2023

Happy Tuesday!  It’s that time of year when all sorts of celebrations, and reasons for card-giving, happen!  Today I’m sharing a card I made for our nephew, who is graduating from high school this year.

I realized when I went to make the card that I really don’t have much for graduation themed stamps, apart from the sentiment inside this card!  Basic elements like the fabulous falling stars die by Tim Holtz are perfect for situations like this, especially paired with basic alphabet dies (the one I used isn’t in stock, but this one would be even better for something like this!).  Add inks & paper in school colors (Hello Prize Ribbon Distress!) and a simple sentiment and you’re good to go!

I hope he liked it, and I hope it inspires you to look at your ‘basic’ tools in a fun new way!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 393} Coffee. Craft. Repeat.

Coffee.  Craft.  Repeat.

I love creating anything with a coffee theme… so pairing the Papercut Cafe Sizzix dies and this coffee ring & sentiment stamp by Altenew definitely made me happy!    Today I’m sharing the two cards I created on my Facebook LIVE on Saturday, both have the same design but different color schemes.  We focused on the process of cutting and assembling these mini Tim Holtz Colorize dies and just how cute they are!

My first card, in shades of pink, orange & yellow, was composed with a painty background I created with Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays!  It wasn’t particularly pretty as a large piece, but the smaller elements were perfect for cutting the coffee cup layers as well as for the border strip on this card.  I finished off the pre-printed tag with a wide yellow silk ribbon.

My second card was made from an inky background I made during the live, which included Distress Inks & Distress Oxide together in shades like Squeezed Lemonade & Peacock Feathers.  I finished it with a piece of crinkle ribbon I had previously inked up in shades of green.

I love seeing the same design in two different color schemes, and had so much fun creating these whimsical coffee cups with bold colors!  Please follow me on Instagram this week to see more completed cards I made with the other cups that were assembled on Facebook live!  If you missed it, you can also catch the replay on Facebook HERE.

Hope to see you soon!

Inky hugs,

Tara
