Tuesday with Tara {take 403} Sunny Camper

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing a sweet & sunny little easel card that I made on Facebook Live last week!  If you joined me, thank you!  If you missed it and you want a little walk through on how to do make the card, you can catch the replay!

I just love this cute little Sunny Studio Camper stamp & coordinating die set!  I had the idea in my head to use it on an easel card but had to adapt my plan a bit when I realized how small the image is, soo…. I created a little scene on a circle I cut from Kraft card stock & paired it with a sunny sentiment.

I am not typically one who buys the matching stamp & die, but I love it when there’s sets like this that have a little bonus like the tree die!  For this card, I actually used another stamp & die set for the sentiment as well!  I used the Hello Sunshine set for the first time last year when we did our Sunflower blog hop, and it’s a really sweet little set with the die cut word and a variety of sentiments to mix & match with it.  It’s a really great price point (under $10!) and still available in the shop!

I colored up my image with Distress Watercolor Pencil Crayons (I know you’ve seen them a lot lately, but I’m working on learning how to best use these pretties!) and used Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink stenciled on the background.

If you’ve never made an easel card before, I encourage you to watch the replay of my live class!  No hard feelings if you skip ahead to the assembly :). These little cuties are 4 1/4″ square and will fit in a standard A2 envelope.  I kept things really simple with 3D foam squares as my dimension to prop the easel up!

I hope you’re enjoying the summer sun & maybe some days away camping as well!  I look forward to seeing you back here on Friday for our August blog hop- it’s going to be fabulous!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 402} Miss You

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing a card made with some of the pieces you will have seen me prep in the last couple of Crafty Lives I’ve done on our Facebook page!  Two weeks ago I showed how I create these fabulous Crinkle Ribbons and last week I made some neutral toned inky backgrounds ready to be die cut as tags!

I finally succumbed to the temptation and got the mini brushstoke flower dies by Tim Holtz– they are sooo cute, but have intimidated me because they are so tiny!  I had some inked up (actually Dina Wakley Glossy sprayed up) backgrounds from a previous project and decided to cut a few of them out.  They turned out really cute and were such a fun addition to the smallest of the tags I die cut!

I paired the little tags with a bold sentiment that overlaps the tags, bringing them together as one focal point.  (This one by MFT is out of stock, but here’s another fab die set!).  The addition of one tiny flower behind the dot in the ‘I’ and a few pink jewels helps everything flow.  I stuck with neutrals for my background in contrast to the vibrant colors of the flowers and finished it off with a pretty yellow ribbon!

Hope you like it and that it gives you some inspiration to use up some of the fabulous inky scraps you have on your work space!  Pull out some die cuts and see what you can do to make a future project quick & easy!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 399} Canadian Cats, eh!

Happy Tuesday!

We had some fun on Thursday night during my FB live getting creative with some Canadian themed cards for Canada Day!  I didn’t have anything handy I could use as a maple leaf, so I decided to have some fun with other shapes.  When I came across the Mischievous Cats dies by Tim Holtz I knew that would be a fun choice!  Here’s two varieties of my fun card:

For both cards I worked with a background of book print paper with a wash of white gesso over it, die cut with a stitched rectangle shape. I painted my red panels with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Paint.  For this first card, I die cut a cat from a deep red card stock, then painted lightly over it with the same paint to help it match a bit better.

I love the texture of the card stock, especially on the raised head.

For the second card, I went for a perfect match and cut the cat from white card stock which I painted red first.   It definitely gives a more intense color!  Both cards are finished off with Bold Sayings by Tim Holtz stamped in matching Distress Oxide ink and an ‘eh’ from an O Canada! stamp set in black.

These cards are simple, but a fun and creative interpretation of the Canadian flag!  Hope you like them!  Catch a replay of my live on Facebook HERE.

(I had a bit more inspiration during clean up at the end of my live… visit my blog or instagram to see what else I made!)

Inky hugs,

Tara
