TBT with Shari T – Tim Tag for February

HELLO HELLO HELLO!!  Happy Thursday!!  I’ve got a busy weekend ahead of me, (with Sunday being March 1st and all) (nudge nudge-wink wink) so I wanted to get my version of Tim Holtz’s February Tag in before all the brouhaha begins 🙂

DSC06347

I pretty  much followed Tim’s techniques except, I’m using his Eclectic Elements Fabrics for my  background!  I’ve been messing around with his fabrics lately (nudge nudge-wink wink) and am getting down to just a few scrap pieces, so, I thought FUN, just use fabrics instead of ephemera pieces and paper!!

Here’s an assortment of some of the pieces of EE fabrics I have left and there’s my #8 tag, that I had previously done a Distress Spray Stain monoprint technique on.

DSC06308

This will be the backside of my tag–you can see a little bit of the batting I’ve adhered to the front side peeking out.

Here are my scraps all sewn together, with a holiday flash card and a couple of strips of tissue tape as part of my patchwork, too.

DSC06311

Here’s a little bit of Picket Fence DP rubbed along the seams.

DSC06313

Things got a little but grungier with the addition of rubbing Black Soot DM along the seams, too.  Something I didn’t take pictures of–I added two butterflies to this tag.  I wasn’t happy with it as it was in this picture–I fussy cut two butterflies from my Collage paper stash and adhered to the tag.

Here you can see the two butterflies that I added and I machine stitched a piece of Tim’s red & cream ric-rac to the tag, too.

I improvised at making my own industrial frame–I used foil tape on cardstock, embossed with polka dots, then die cut using my framelits dies.  I also dyed my felt heart.  I don’t have red felt, but I have off-white, so I stained it with Barn Door DS and heat dried.  When I stitched the heart to the tag, it was still kind of damp, and you can see how some of the DS stained the thread!

I treated the word band and brads with Picket Fence DP and adhered to my tag with hot glue.

DSC06343

I treated the arrow, wire and mini corner with Picket Fence DP, then I hot glued the arrow in place and I gently hammered the corner piece in place.

DSC06348

Here is the back of the tag with all of the stitching making quite the design!

Oh boy–another month down on the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015!  I’m headed over there now to get this tag in–talk about down to the wire!  Tim’s February tag challenge closes Saturday the 28th, so hurry up!

I’ll be back on Saturday–it’s going to be a busy day here at Ain’t That Artsy Fartsy and a new month of creativity in store for you!

Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!
