Tuesday with Tara {take 161}

Happy Tuesday!  I’m back from a relaxing week at the beach… and not exactly happy to be away from the ocean breeze, so I picked a happy little stamp and played with happy colors to make this card 🙂  I’ve had this little ‘one in a chameleon‘ set by Lawn Fawn for a while and was looking at photos for inspiration.  I was especially delighted by pics that showed chameleons blending with their background, so decided to pick a colorful background and start with that.  I came upon the tie-dyed coffee filters I made with my Easter Egg project (a couple years ago. ahem.) and inspiration brought me here…

I started by using glossy collage medium to adhere the coffee filter (click the link to see my tie-dye technique) to some cardstock.  I painted one side and stuck it down, then brushed over the entire surface to give a glossy surface.  I like the texture I got from wrinkles in the filter and brush strokes.  Once the collaged piece was dry, I die cut hearts from it using a really old whimsical heart die by Sizzix.  While it was drying, I stamped several chameleons with Memento Ink and played around with color combos and blends of green, blue, yellow & orange.  I hadn’t pulled out my Copics for quite a while, but I had fun blending the colors on this image!  I have several more to work with, so they will probably end up on another card or tag along with the extra hearts I cut out… I finished him off with some glossy accents on his eye-lid.

I managed to cut the ‘thank you’ Lawn Fawn die out of the leftover bits of my collaged background, which works great together with the sentiment that is included in this little set (which I stamped in black and leaf green). My Quickie Glue Pen did the trick adhering this detailed sentiment die.  I stamped a thank you sentiment as a border down the side of the card using Distress Oxide Ink and added a few enamel dots and a touch of Nuvo gloss white to add a bit more contrast.

I hope my little chameleon brings a smile to your face too!  I can’t wait to color it with some of the other combos I have in my little tie-dye stash… I’ve got one more pic for ya, of my cute photo-bomber.  This is Tazo, I think he missed me while I was gone to the beach 🙂  He kept stepping over my card, and I had to delete a few pics due to prominent cat hairs on them! LOL

Inky hugs,

Tara
