Tuesday with Tara {take 408} The Struggle is Real

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing a card I made with the same image that I used for my card for our current blog hop, Pooh & his big Coffee!  I wanted to create a coffee shaker from the big open space, and this is what I came up with.  I stamped on watercolor paper & colored the image with Distress Watercolor Pencil Crayons.  I then added some Distress Ink Stenciling around the image with a honeycomb pattern.

I drew a frame in the mug to give me a window to cut.  Then I used a small piece of acetate behind my window, then filled the shaker with real coffee beans, some beads & sequins.

My chosen sentiment, “the struggle is real” is something I was definitely feeling as I struggled with the final assembly on this one… but I think once I trimmed things up a little bit it came out okay,  and hopefully the bling distracts from the boo-boos LOL

If you haven’t already checked out the blog hop, please do!  It’s a fairly small/quick hop but the cards are fabulous and your comments are entries for a $50 shopping spree!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 402} Miss You

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing a card made with some of the pieces you will have seen me prep in the last couple of Crafty Lives I’ve done on our Facebook page!  Two weeks ago I showed how I create these fabulous Crinkle Ribbons and last week I made some neutral toned inky backgrounds ready to be die cut as tags!

I finally succumbed to the temptation and got the mini brushstoke flower dies by Tim Holtz– they are sooo cute, but have intimidated me because they are so tiny!  I had some inked up (actually Dina Wakley Glossy sprayed up) backgrounds from a previous project and decided to cut a few of them out.  They turned out really cute and were such a fun addition to the smallest of the tags I die cut!

I paired the little tags with a bold sentiment that overlaps the tags, bringing them together as one focal point.  (This one by MFT is out of stock, but here’s another fab die set!).  The addition of one tiny flower behind the dot in the ‘I’ and a few pink jewels helps everything flow.  I stuck with neutrals for my background in contrast to the vibrant colors of the flowers and finished it off with a pretty yellow ribbon!

Hope you like it and that it gives you some inspiration to use up some of the fabulous inky scraps you have on your work space!  Pull out some die cuts and see what you can do to make a future project quick & easy!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 394} Looking Sharp

Happy Tuesday!

I played around with an adorable stamp and some paper piecing on my Facebook Live over the weekend!  Here’s the card I made:

I also pieced together a couple more images and completed another similar card, but with a bit more detail thanks to some input from my viewers!

This card features the basic design of the first card, with a few extra touches like more detailed paper piecing, a 3D flower on the cactus and some Glossy Accents to highlight elements (including the addition of a die cut 60 to make this a birthday card)!  I’ve got one more card in the works as well, but you’ll have to watch my instagram this week for a look at that one!

Products I’ve used:

I had a lot of fun piecing this card together and I’m inspired to re-visit some of my other stamps to see how they might work for this technique!

Here’s hoping you have a fabulous week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
