Tuesday with Tara {take 109}

Happy Tuesday!

Guess what arrived after last week’s blog hop post went live?  My package that included the freebie stocking die, which I hope many of you will have arriving soon at your homes after you did some retail therapy in the online store 🙂  So, as promised, I’m sharing one final “Christmas in July” creation… on the first of August 🙂

I decided to go with a tag… which would be fabulous hanging on a gift bag or bottle of wine as a gift, or it may end up the focal point of a card later on!  I die cut the gorgeous stocking die twice, once out of kraft and once out of the silver glitter cardstock.  I taped up the back of the glitter die cut to keep all those detailed pieces from going anywhere, then layered the kraft die cut over it.  I love the contrast of the neutral kraft over that glittery base!

I inked up a manila tag with a variety of green & blue Distress Oxide Inks, then added a bit more shading a stamped sentiment in Vintage Photo Distress Oxide.  A few brown toned sequins worked well to mix with both the kraft & the glitter elements.

I pulled some pre-inked pieces of crinkle ribbon from my stash that coordinated nicely with my tag and added a little piece of Christmas idea-ology by Tim Holtz to finish it off!  All in all, it’s a pretty simple project, but something as detailed as this stocking die doesn’t need much to look complete!  Plus, I think I managed to make something completely different than everyone else who did the hop, which can sometimes be a challenge after you’ve seen their amazing inspiration pieces!  If you missed the hop, check it out HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have a simple, classy card to share with you that features a new stamp set by Concord & 9th, which is new in the online store!

Maybe you’ve noticed, but I really love sentiment stamps, and this set was so versatile and just so CLASSY, I couldn’t resist it!  (Apparently I’m not the only one who thought so, because it is currently sold out… but I’m sure Raya will be getting it back in stock again before long!)  I’ve paired it with a Tim Holtz floral die cut out of my card front and layered an inked piece of book paper behind it (I used Distress Oxide with lots of water over a gesso base) and added a strip of yellow paper and a small stamped & die cut butterfly to finish it off. (Did  you see that Tim Holtz released 12 more colors of Distress Oxide?  You can pre-order the bundle here & save!  So much inky fun!)

I kept the inside very simple, but wanted to share with you the inside sentiment that’s also included in the stamp set:

This will be my new go-to set for thank you cards!

I’ve got another card to share with you using this stamp set, so I encourage you to come back and see us on SATURDAY for a fun CANADA DAY BLOG HOP featuring a fab new beaver stamp & die set that’s in the store!  We’ve got some great artists and creative fun to share with you, so be sure to carve out some time on your Saturday morning to hop with us!  It’s our first blog hop, and we’re pretty excited about it!

Hope you have a great week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!

Father’s Day is coming up so I thought I’d share a fun masculine card idea with you featuring the popular paper dolls by Tim Holtz, Distress Oxide and a bunch of kraft colored goodness 🙂

I started by working with a variety of Distress Oxide Inks on a #8 manila tag.  I used what I like to call the ‘dip & drip’ technique- rubbing a few colors onto my Ranger Craft Sheet, spritzing with water and dipping the tag into it.  I let it drip a bit, then dried with a heat tool and repeated the process.  The Oxide inks layer beautifully, giving a really funky effect.  I finished off the tag with some brown ink around the edges.  I also stamped a vintage button border in the same brown along the left side and added a few rings of white paint (using a lid as my tool).  The card background is also Distress Oxide, a simply stamped a small dot background onto the kraft card base and a few of those paint rings as well.

I’ve been looking for things to seat the sitting dolls on, and this coffee cup seemed like a fun ‘larger than life’ option- especially for my coffee loving Dad!

I always like to add texture, and this mustache ribbon from my stash, the burlap coffee sleeve and the decorative brads helped to complete this card.  It can be a challenge for a lot of us making masculine cards that aren’t boring, but details like this make it easy!

I hope you got a bit of inspiration for some masculine creations this week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
