Scribbly Snowflakes card with Sizzix dies

This is card featuring Sizzix Scribbly snowflake dies and Tim Holtz Festive Words dies.  I figured it was appropriate as Canada gets yet another dump of snow – what perfect time to stay inside and create!  This is a throw back from our Christmas in July because Tara is dealing with her move – I hope you enjoy it!

Perhaps you remember  I had a bit of an oops with a bottle of White Dina Wakley Media Gloss Spray several weeks ago.  You can see the card & read about it here.  Since I had a puddle of white on my desk, I started grabbing papers & tags and assorted other things and dipped them in the puddle.  I suspected that since it has a glossy finish it would be fun for a resist technique, and I was right!  This card front was plain white Cardstock, which I dipped & dripped and splattered and left to dry.

I die cut the Let if Snow from Tim Holtz Festive Words from Glitter Cardstock . Then added some colour blending to the solid layer behind it.  I found a couple of Scribbly Snowflakes left over from last year’s holiday crafting. While I don’t recall what colours I used, I took inspiration from them for the palette on this card- keeping the background softer to let them stand out.

I went to my old faithful, Distress Inks to do some colour blending over the card a subtle mix of Stormy Sky, Salvaged Patina & Chipped Sapphire.  Once it was blended, I spritzed with some water and wiped off the card to really make those glossy bits pop!

I finished everything off with a few sequins and mounted it on a light blue card base.

See you soon!

Day 12 {Tuesday with Tara take 379} Hero Arts

Happy Tuesday, and happy Day 12 of the SNS 12 Days of Christmas!  I get to feature another classic stamp company… and yet I’m not using a single stamp on my project today!

I’ve chosen to share a perfect last minute gift wrap idea, featuring a fabulous Hero Arts stencil & a fun die cut set.

Aren’t these gift tags adorable? I just had to use both shapes included in this die set (though I confess the coffee mug is what drew me in!)  I have a ton of creative ideas for these… but Christmas is coming in less than a week, y’all.  I just simply ran out of time!
These little pillow boxes were found at a dollar store and are a perfect blank canvas for so many things.  Since I love using Distress Oxide Inks on Kraft, I chose to pull out some Distress Oxide Sprays to use with this snowflake stencil.  Any holiday design, or even something like simple polka dots, would be perfect for these little packages!  I’ve used Rustic Wilderness for my green & Lumberjack Plaid for the red.   I love the splotchy oxidation on these snowflakes!

Even though I was going ultra simple for these packages & tags, a touch of glitter for the toppers didn’t take me any more time and really looks fabulous.  Sheer ribbon to tie it all together adds a bit of softness.

I’ve got plans to do more of these in different colors- they are perfect for a small gift or some Christmas cash!  They are actually *just* large enough for a simple A2 sized card to fit inside them, as well!

Today you can take advantage of all 12 days of savings & surprises- including the newest, 25% off Hero Arts!  Check out all the fun details across social media (like instagram) and have fun shopping!

Inky hugs & Merry Christmas y’all!

Tuesday with Tara {take 377} Hello Winter Throwback

Happy Tuesday!  I’m sharing a throwback post from last year- and as luck would have it, all the main elements I used on my card are in stock & available from SNS today!

Today’s card will probably seem very non-traditional, but it really depicts the kind of winter I see most of the time since I’ve moved south to North Carolina!  I’m featuring the new Tim Holtz Festive Words dies paired with Cardinals dies by Impression Obsession over a background of Sketch Greenery stamped in assorted shades of green Distress Ink.  I used a mix of regular & oxide inks, misted with water on watercolor Cardstock to create a soft background.

My photo background is also the inspiration for the background of the card.  I went to a wreath making workshop with a friend and was able to use a large variety of different greenery to create a gorgeous fresh wreath for the holidays.  I love the mix of textures and colors together!

There’s a touch of shimmer mixed with all the earthy vibes, like a hint of fresh snow… with white pearlescent text and sequins scattered around.  Two of the cardinals are resting on the greeting while the third one, taking flight, is raised with a foam square.

I had a small piece of the background left after making my card, so I made a coordinating gift tag using the smaller ‘joy’ sentiment from the set.  I love the mix of the elegant background and the whimsical font of the greeting together!

I hope you like it!  I sure had fun making them!
Inky hugs,
Tara
