Tuesday with Tara {take 101}

Happy Tuesday!

First, can I just say WOW!  Y’all blew me away with your comments on my 100th post, it was such a joy & encouragement to see all of you stop by and I hope you keep coming back!  If you follow us on facebook, hopefully you caught the video of the draw last night – Congrats to the winner of the $100 gift certificate:

Karen

Beautiful work! Always love to see your ideas.

Happy shopping Karen!
‘Tis the season of graduations… Today I’m sharing a card that came about from assorted bits & pieces I had leftover from other projects!  I often color extra images and ink extra pieces when I’m creating, and sometimes I’m lucky enough to find a few that just work together… like this bird image, and the orange & blue background pieces!

I thought he’d be cute with the “crazy things” grad cap & diploma, so I pulled some color from the blue Colorburst background with a wet paintbrush to be certain it would match.  Once dry, I covered the cap with nuvo glitter drops 💙, which turned out pretty fabulous!  A bit of clear embossing paste through a stencil added more shine & texture to the background.  I kept everything else simple- a black stamped greeting (also by Dina Wakley) and some orange sheer ribbon finish it off!
Here’s a closer look at my little bird…

Hope you like it, thanks so much for stopping by!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!
I apologize in advance if extra bits of spring goodness are peeking through on my projects, especially if it’s feeling like you are in the middle of a never-ending winter!

The background of this card is a bold abstract I created using Color Burst and a stencil.  If it looks familiar, it’s because I made a variety in one sitting and have been creating cards with the pieces as inspiration strikes!  Any stencil with a bold, open design would work great for the “sprinkle & spritz” technique I’ve used.

Here’s a close up of the white embossed sentiment and some of the cute little die cut birds…

These little birds are such a fun addition to a card!  I feel like I need to invest in more birds to go with this sentiment… these are by Memory Box, and while they aren’t in stock I’m sure Raya could help you buy something similar 😉

if you love a good discount (don’t we all!?!)  check out the current specials on the online store here!  There’s a ton of new stuff arriving these days, I know my wish list is a whole lot bigger than my budget… lol, I hope you don’t suffer from the same affliction!

inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!

Since I’ve been working on some ATC’s lately, I thought it would be fun to make some Valentines minis!

IMG_9211

I started with a base of watercolor cardstock that had already been inked up with Color Burst and trimmed them down to size (these are slightly wider than a standard ATC).  I used a lot of little bits that were left from previous projects, like die cut words & hearts and book paper.  Sequins & text stickers are tiny details that add to these minis!

The button “flair” on this one was something I designed as part of our wedding favors, I love finding ways to work them into my art!

As this mini featured a larger heart, I chose a simple black Prima flower and a big gold blingy center for it.

I had fun with these cuties, and they would be a great way to make up a bunch of coordinated, but not exactly the same, Valentines for a group of friends!  How fun it would be to give some out at a galentines party if you are single… or they could easily be mounted on a card base so you have room to include a sentiment inside!

inky hugs,

Tara
