Happy blog hop day! We are excited to kick of December with a fun Christmas themed blog hop to inspire you! But this isn’t just any Christmas blog hop… we’re dreaming of a White Christmas this year and we hope our cards will inspire you!

White Christmoose

My card today was inspired by dreams of a winter wonderland… not something I’ve had at Christmas since moving south! I love this Merry Moose die by Tim Holtz and decided to start by cutting him from white watercolor card stock. I had plenty of ideas for this dude, but keeping it white (mostly) was the hard part! Hopefully you like what I ended up with!

Using white on white can be a bit tricky, so I wanted to play with textures. I combined the roughness of the moose die with some smooth pearlescent white cardstock as my base. I layered another piece of the same cardstock over it. This one has some snowflakes stamped in pale blue and the addition of Nuvo Glimmer Paste stenciled over Simon Hurley’s Backsplash stencil. Such a pretty combo!

I created a bit of a scene on my card by adding the layers of trees by Memory Box & Poppy Stamps. The card needed something else, so I cut an ornament from Tim Holtz’s Christmas Circle Words die set. The top layer is from Silver Alcohol Ink card stock and the base is a piece I had inked up with Distress Oxide Sprays. I had this little die cut branch sitting on my desk as the perfect spot to hang the ornament!

Happy Tuesday!

As promised, I’m wrapping up July with one more Christmas in July card- this one combines our Blog Hop ‘Turnabout’ theme for July (and featured stamp company, Concord & 9th) with the Christmas theme! I’m using the Snowflakes Turnabout as my card background, behind a little die cut scene I created with a Distress Oxide blended background and dies by Poppy Stamps (Tree Line Hill) & Memory Box (Whispering Pine Landscape) I got them last year and hated that I only only made a couple cards with them! They are no longer in the online store, but I found another similar one that you could use (and I think I need to get to use along with them)!

I created my scene in multiple layers- blending my background with Iced Spruce & Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks & a Life Changing Blender Brush. I die cut the trees from book print, green cardstock and a pearly white cardstock, then layered them over my background and die cut the whole thing with a Lawn Fawn Small Dotted Square Stackables. (I’ll be purchasing the large set so I can have a dotted layer to use together with these! For today, I simply cut a layer 1/4″ larger than the 4″ square). I combined a die cut word (Shadow Script Christmas) with seasonal sentiment stickers by Tim Holtz and finished off the die cut panel with some thin jute. I added some Nuvo Glitter drops to the die cut ‘bright’ and some Rock Candy Distress Stickles (pretty sure it’s discontinued.. but I have a stock pile. The dry glitter is still available, I believe) to the trees for a bit of shimmer.

I stamped my turnabout in the colors I used in my background and added in Mowed Lawn to tie the green in. Turnabouts are designed to be stamped four times, and I used only three colors… the fourth was actually stamped twice with the Spruce & Peacock (I was considering just doing it in one color and changed my mind) so it created a mid tone similar to the blend between the two in my background 🙂 I finished off my snowy background by splattering some Distress Spray Stain in Picket Fence over it.

I was a bit late to the game starting on Christmas in July, but if I’d had time to keep going I would have… ideas were starting to flow and I was ready to shop for some new stamps, stencils & dies! Hopefully my creation inspires you likewise 🙂

I’ve used the Whispering Pine Landscape die by Memory Box together with the Tree Line Hill die by Poppy Stamps to create a simple winter scene for today’s card.

The large ‘joy’ is from Tim Holtz’s Shadow Script Christmas set, paired with words from the Holiday Words #2 Set to create my sentiment.  I kept the card design very simple, inking up an ombre background on white card stock with Distress Oxide Inks in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers & Faded Jeans.  I stamped some snowflakes with water for some subtle texture, then added a few more with ink.  I also misted it lightly to create a bit more snowy texture by activating the inks.

The tree borders were both cut from a pearlescent white card stock, I added some chunky glass glitter to the front layer for texture (and to cover up some scratches I made by mistake!).  The thin block text was cut from the finished inked layer and layered over the white card front to allow it to show through.  I love mixing and matching different text dies to create my sentiments like this!  This card would be another fun one to create in bulk, especially if you played around with a few different color combinations for the sky (I love the purples Laurie used last week on her card!).  I would probably play around with different sentiment combos if I was creating a set as well, which is easy to do when you have such great variety to choose from with the two die sets I used on this card!
