Panda Birthday with Laurie!

Hello friends!!  Happy New Year to all!!  Well, it’s that weird time between Christmas and Valentines Day where us cardmakers are sort of in limbo.  Of course, we can continue to use our winter stamps and dies but I always get a bit antsy to start using my  spring or love themed products!

I need to start building up my birthday card stash so that’s what I made for you today!  I used two Flora & Fauna stamp sets to create this cute card..

I started by stamping that adorable panda from the Panda Set, as well as the two large flowers. Before colouring and fussy cutting the panda, I added the birthday banner from the Woodland Birthday Stamp Set.  A lot of the images in Flora and Fauna sets are scaled to work perfectly together. After colouring with my alcohol markers, I trimmed each image with scissors.

I created a simple background on a white panel cut with a stitched rectangle die by using a hand cut mask to create the hill and sky.  I used Crushed Olive Distress Ink for the green and Peacock Feathers for the blue. After adhering the flowers and the panda with foam adhesive, I decided the scene needed a wee bit more.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the butterfly from the Panda Set and the party hat and small leafy image from the Woodland Birthday Set.

I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base, added a few clear sequins, shimmer pen and Glossy Accents to a few areas of the scene.

Thank you for dropping in today! I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at some Flora and Fauna cuteness!!

See you soon…

Birthday Card featuring Concord & 9th!!

Hello crafty friends and welcome back!!  Laurie with you today to share a birthday card!!  I really needed a break from Christmas card making and also wanted to showcase some  Concord & 9th goodies that are new to the shop!!

I used the Happy Day Stamp Set along with its c0-0rdinating dies to make this card. This isn’t a new set from C&9 but it is definitely worth a look if you don’t own it or a revisit if it happens to be in your stash!

I used my alcohol markers in shades of coral, green, tan and turquoise. I tried to go for a subtle look but sometimes have a hard time achieving that with my markers! The cake plate was actually paper pieced on a teal coloured paper.  I added a bit of shading to the edges with my markers and polka dots with my white gel pen.

Once I started with the white details, I couldn’t stop and added them everywhere!  The flowers also got a good coating of Clear Wink of Stella!!  The co-ordinating dies have the words “happy day” which I cut from the same patterned paper as the plate.  I cut the letters as well as the cake die from craft foam and adhered everything onto a white panel that was embossed with a folder from Taylored Expressions (unfortunately, this folder is not available :()

The panel was adhered to a white, top fold card base and I added a few clear sequins from my stash! This card was a little labour intensive, especially with the colouring but I really like how it turned out!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and I hope you will take a look around the shop at the new release section as it’s full of amazing goodies!

Thank you so much for dropping in today!! Have a great day and I’ll see you soon!

Llama Love with Flora and Fauna

Hey, crafty friends! Laurie here, to share a card I made using some fabulous products from Flora & Fauna!! This is a fairly new company on the stamping scene and has become a favourite of mine!  The images are beautiful, whimsical, cut and above all else, super unique!!  As I was working on todays card, I noticed how well you can mix and match different sets. All the images are scaled to work together. This is fantastic because the possibilities are endless when everything works together.

I decided to make a birthday card using the Llama Love Stamp Set.  I stamped a bunch of the images and used my Copic markers to colour them. This set does not have co-ordinating dies but the images are really easy to fussy cut.

I created a little circle scene using dies from the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies from Hero Arts. I used Tumbled Glass and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks to add some colour to the circle. So, this is where the scale of the images from each stamp set come into play.  The cake on the llama’s back is from the Woodland Birthday Stamp Set. It fits perfectly on that llama!! The sentiment is from that stamp set, as well.

I adhered all my images to the ink blended circle using a combination of Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and foam adhesive squares. I decided to mat my scene onto a slightly larger, white circle to help it stand out from the kraft card base.  Before adhering my little scene, I used Versmark Ink and the “mountain” images from the Llama Love stamp set to create a patterned background. To give those a little shine, I used clear embossing powder.

I added Glossy Accents to the cake, the blanket on his back and the flowers on the cacti to add a bit of shine!!

And that’s my card for today!! I hope you have some Flora and Fauna in your stash. If not, the SNS store has an incredible variety to choose from, including dies!!!

SALE ALERT!! Until August 8th, the Hero Arts Circle Infinity Dies are 25% off!! This is a fantastic set of dies and will work perfectly with any other circle dies you may already have! Trust me, I have others, but this set “completes me” 🙂 !!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!!

Until next time…

Laurie
