Tweet Greetings

Hello all, Kia here with you today. I had some fun doing this card which I wanted to share with you.

I started the background with my die cut panel using a Tim Holtz stencil called Pines, which I placed on a slight angle. I dragged my Versamark embossing ink pad both across and down the stencil ensuring I did not cover the entire stencil. I then heat embossed using white embossing powder. For my colour I painted using Ken Oliver Color Burst powders in Turquoise, Chartruese and Phalo Green, then set aside to dry.

I then stamped my images using Ranger Archival ink in Sepia and cut my images, then watercoloured using Zig Clean Color Brushes. I stamped everything from the set as I am never sure what I will use. I tuck the left overs in the back of my set storage for use another time. Once I was finished with the watercolour I painted the hats with acrylic white paint giving the “fur” texture, and when that was dry I went over it with Clear Wink of Stella.

I stamped the sentiment on the card panel using Ranger Library Green and attached the panel to fun foam, then attached to a light blue card base using Be Creative tape. I then made a mix using Perfect Pearls with a fair amount of water and painted over the panel which gives the panel a beautiful shimmer.  I proceeded to style the images slightly and attached using glue and foam squares.

I

I then went on to the inside of my card, again using the Pine stencil on my Wonky stitched panel, this time brushing on the inks in Mowed Lawn, Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles. I stamped the sentiment using the Library Green ink, I think the “falala” is the perfect sentiment for this card.

Thank you for joining me today and for visiting the Scrap’n Stamp Blog.

Happy Howlidays

It is Kia back with you today to share my Happy Howlidays card. I just love the stamp sets I used today, being My Favorite Things Deck the Howls and Trio of Trees.

I don’t often use designer papers, but these papers spoke to me for this card. The papers are called Candy Land and they are a collection of fun traditional and non traditional papers. For my card I used the blue snowflake paper, but there is a pink one too.

I happened to have the snow drifts already made and sitting on my desk when I started this card, so I included them in my design, cutting them along with the designer paper with my Wonky Stitch Rectangle. A task my Gemini has no problem doing.

Using my Clarity Brushes I brushed on the Tumbled Glass Distress Ink lightly to the snow banks.  I mention these brushes as I note similar brushes in the store put out by Nuvo, which makes great products. I have linked to these brushes below. They are fabulous for stenciling and adding soft inking to cards. I have a few sets as I wanted a brush for each colour.

I stamped all of the images and cut as I wasn’t sure what ones I would use. I stamped the dogs using Ranger Archival Ink in Sepia, along with the branch trees. The other trees I did using Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron and Broken China. To paint the animals I laid down the colours of distress ink on my work surface and picked up the paint with my paintbrush to watercolour.

Once everything was dry I arranged them on my card front, then proceeded to glue them on, and for some I used foam squares. I then added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Autumn Red and Oyster Grey. I painted lightly Tumbled Glass across the bottom, then painted over it with the white Pearl Colors.

To finish I stamped my sentiment on the front using Memento Ink, then I moved to the inside of my card. Using the same Wonky Rectangles I cut the designer paper and a piece of cardstock for my sentiment. I used another of the dog images and a tree, and stamped the sentiment with the Memento Ink. I also added the Nuvo Crystals to the tree, and the dog is attached with foam squares.

I hope you have enjoyed this card and would like to thank you for visiting the Scrap’n Stamp Blog today. I look forward to seeing you next time.

Tuesday with Tara {take 174}

Happy Tuesday!  I had a final autumn themed card ready to share today… and then I decided at the last minute I needed to create a poppies card for Remembrance Day!

I’ve used the Delicate Pretty Poppies by MFT again, this time I went with a Distress Watercolor painting on watercolor paper.  It bled a lot, but I was looking for a loose painted look… I stamped my images in Distress Ink (Festive Berries & Mowed Lawn) and painted in the color with the same ink and a water brush.  Once it was dry, I stamped it again in a slightly darker color to reinforce the lines of the images.

I added some splatter on the background by rubbing ink on a damp toothbrush and flicking it.  A bit of stickles finishes off the flowers… and a small story stick (by Tim Holtz) tied to some crinkle ribbon to add texture.

It’s pretty simple… but I like it.  I planned to add a sentiment, but decided to include one inside instead.

Inky hugs,

Tara
