Tuesday with Tara {take 340} Hey Ombre!

Hey you, happy Tuesday!

Over in our Facebook Challenge Group the theme of the day is OMBRE!  It’s always a fun theme, picking several colors that flow together… today, they are all the same color family working from light to dark.

Today’s cute card features some fun ombre accents on another trio of tags!  This time I chose to use Kraft tags (you KNOW I love me some Kraft!) with the adorable hot dog stamps by Tracey Hey.

I knew these sweet designs would look fabulous simply stamped in black ink, allowing me to play with a fun ombre look using shades of green Distress Paint on the edges of the tags!  I’ve used Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness together here, just brushed a different color along the edge of each tag and then added some splatters using the paint on one of the stamps in the set.

I cleaned off my brush between colors on a scrap of Cardstock and decided afterwords that it would be a fun touch to also stamp the balloons on that painted paper.  Since the ink was slow to dry on the painted surface, I added some embossing powder to speed things up and give it a bit of of shine.  The strings are some soft fabric wire which was easy to shape and then glue into place exactly where I wanted it.

I hope you like it and are inspired by this simple way to make an ombre card!

Inky (& painty!) hugs,

All You Need Is Love

As the song goes, all you need is love! Well, that and craft supplies. And coffee. And chocolate! Well, we’re going to stick with the love theme, since it is Valentine’s Day, after all.  I stayed with the adorable Tracey Hey stamps that we featured in our recent Inspiration Blog Hop. This time I used the cute unicorn.

Little Bit Crazy is the name of this stamp set, featuring the unicorn, and her pals giraffe and elephant.

All You Need Is Love

I think that the sentiment says it all! This image is such fun to colour – you can let your imagination run wild, no need to stick with realistic unicorn colours. (What do you mean, they’re not real?!)

Start by stamping the unicorn image in Nocturne ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Cover it with clear embossing powder, and then  heat set. Setting the ink allows you to use whatever you like, to add colour. I chose to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, because I love the selection of colours in the pack. It’s not strictly a ROYGBIV rainbow, but close enough. Add accents and highlights with a white gel pen.  Let’s take a look at this cutie, shall we?

All You Need Is Love

Next, die cut the image into a heart shape. Then cut a larger heart shape from glitter paper. Layer the two hearts onto a light pink panel, using glue and foam tape/squares. Next, stamp some of the hearts, also from the Little Bit Crazy set, in darker  pink, onto the background panel. Stamp the sentiment in the same darker pink onto a white square, and pop it on with foam squares. Finally, attach the front panel onto a dark pink card base.

Some FURRY Tracey Hey Fun

Happy Friday! Here we are, the weekend before Valentines Day, so I suppose I could have gone with something mushy for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, but instead I chose FURRY! Not that we aren’t mushy with our furry friends. 😉  I also wanted to break out another Tracey Hey stamp set, and remind you there is still time to visit and comment on our Wild ‘n Whimsy Inspiration Hop for your chance to win one of these sweet stamp sets! And with that… here is my card:

Isn’t this little pup a cutie? While personally I always choose red rubber boots 😀  I decided to give this guy bright yellow ones. He comes from the Hot Dog set, along with two other sweet wiener dogs and accompanying sentiments. I added clouds and a sentiment from an older Lawn Fawn set. The sky and ground are distress inks, with the help of a die cut mask for the grass. The card base is made from sour apple My Favorite Things cardstock.

If you are wondering about the sentiment, it continues on the inside, along with a sticker from my previous teaching life:

If your weekend includes some crafting time, perhaps you’ll consider joining the SnS challenge – one person will win a $50 gift code to the Scrap ‘n Stamp store!
