Tuesday with Tara {take 35}

Happy Tuesday!  I’m glad you’re here today!  It’s March 1, the sun is shining where I’m at and it’s got me thinking about spring and bright colors and inky fingers and other things that make me smile…

First up today, I’ve got a winner to announce!  I took all the comments left on last week’s blog post and the facebook page post, and used a random number generator to come up with a winner!  (If it’s not you, stick around till the end of this post for another chance to win a prize!)

The winner is…

NANCY L.

Congrats!  Contact us with your mailing address and we’ll get your feather stencil sent off to you!

Today we’re moving from feathers to BIRDS- just a little crazy bird today 🙂  I mixed up another custom paste for my background using a couple shades of Distress Ink and Transluscent paste and a generous amount of chunky glitter by American Crafts.  I stamped my sentiment first, then placed the Crafter’s Workshop stencil over it and applied paste with a palette knife.  Once the paste was dry, I sprinkled some Color Burst over it and spritzed.  It made a fun background!

My crazy bird was also colored with a mix of Color Burst and Distress Markers, then finished off with a generous amount of Stickles Glitter Glue 🙂

Hope you like my crazy, sparkly bird card and it brings a smile to your day!  Everything was done on Watercolor paper today, so today you can win a package of Distress Watercolor Cardstock!

Tuesday with Tara {take 33}

Happy Tuesday!  Today I have TWO cards to share with you that feature the same stamps & basic elements, done in two ways to give a masculine and feminine feel, ready to contribute the the card stash for when you need them!  First there’s some business to attend to… I need to thank everyone who commented on last week’s blog post and announce the winner of the Dylusions Stencil 🙂

The winner is…

Jocelyn Sun

Congrats, Jocelyn!  Thanks for your comment 🙂  Please contact us and let us know where we can send your stencil 🙂

The stamp set I’ve used is an older fave of mine called Get Well Soon by Lawn Fawn.  I stamped the turtle (my fave image in the set!) a couple times and colored it up quickly with Distress Markers.  Once my image was dry, I added Ranger’s Crackle Accents to his shell and set them aside to dry.  Love the simple details this adds!

The background of my cards is a fun one by Hero Arts, stamped simply with Distress Ink to match the patterned papers I was using (the ones on this first card are by Basic Grey.  I added simple details like a border punch and washi tape.  The sentiment is stamped on a small manila tag that had been printed on with an inky stencil and water.  Note the top of the tag was cut off on this card and used as a tab on the left side of the card 🙂

My second card is very similar, but simpler than the first card to give a more masculine feel.  I left the tag whole and mounted it simply on a black cardstock panel.

You can see the Crackle Accents details better in this final photo!

Hope you like my cards and that the winter weather doesn’t have you feeling like you need someone to send you a get well cards!  Have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 30}

Hugs & Kisses on a snowy  Tuesday… I wanted to create a card for Valentine’s Day, but really wasn’t feeling like playing with traditional shades of red & pink… so Lucky Clover Distress Ink came to the rescue and I made this simple card in shades of green!

The card background is a heavy inking of clover ink, with some lime Perfect Pearls Mist sprayed through a Dina Wakley stencil over it to add some shimmer.  Here’s a different angle for a closer look.

I decided to try something different and add texture with some tissue paper, which I crumpled up and wrapped around the front of the card.  I had some challenges with my adhesive, but hopefully it’s not too obvious!  I selected an assortment of Prima flowers in shades of green and white and added some bling to finish it all off.  The sentiment, from one of Tim Holtz’s Sizzix dies, is meant to be the focal point of the card 🙂

Hope you have a fabulous day and find some time to get creative!

Inky hugs,

Tara
