It’s Blended!

Nancy here with you today to share a quick and easy (and late) Mother’s Day card with you!

Scrap ‘n Stamp Canada is doing another month long word of the day challenge.  For today, the prompt is “Blended” so I did some ink blending on a card I made for a friend to give to her daughter for her first Mother’s Day!

Here’s a look at the graphic for all the days of May, in case you missed it!

I had fun playing with colours on this card… I sure hope that they go together.  I miss having my friend Bonnie over to help me with decisions!

I started with placing my cardstock behind my stencil… my stencil is the one that has the sunburst more in the corner so I played around a bit to get it more centred from left to right.  I love Purple Tape for this!  I then blended on some pink and yellow Gina K inks and it created more of an orange than I had hoped for thanks to getting the pink on more of the stencil than I had planned.  I cut the letters from some purple glitter paper and stamped the sentiment underneath.  And in a strange twist of events (for me) I stuck with the yellow card instead of just doing a layer.

Items Used:

*Carstock:  Neenah Solar White; Lawn Fawn Sunflower; purple glitter from my stash

*Images:  MFT All About Mom

*Ink:  Gina K Wilde Dandelion and Passionate PinkVersafine Clair Nocturne

*Dies:  MFT Mom

*Stencils:  Picket Fence Studios Sunburst

*Tools:  Gemini; Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blender Brushes

*Embellishments:  Studio Katia Arctic Breeze Pearls; old old old Prima flower

Be sure to create some cards using our prompts and share them on our Facebook Challenge Page!! We will be choosing one person at random at the end of the month to win a small shopping spree at Scrap ‘n Stamp!

WHAT TIME IS IT?

It’s wine o’clock!

First I want to wish all the Mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Hi Everyone! It’s Susan with a really simple card for you today and you guessed it – the theme is wine.

When I started this card I had another idea in mind for the background but when I finished coloring the image I decided to keep it really simple.

I cut the card base to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored it at 5 1/2″. Next I cut a panel piece to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and stamped the sentiment on the long side. I added that piece directly to the card base. I cut the image panel to 3″ x 4 3/4″ and popped it up onto the card base with craft foam.

I do not consider myself to be a color specialist in any way. I color because I enjoy it and find it very relaxing. The way I color is to start with a light color and add darker shades until I’m happy with how it looks. For the hair I used a brown, black, red and grey and added lines of color until it was almost all colored in. My hopes is that it looks like hair with highlights.  I used a light grey to add a wash of color in behind the image and then a darker grey around the edges to add depth. I used the lighter grey to blend out the darker grey.

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day?

I’m helping my daughter move into her first place, move some of our stuff to our new place and then I’ll be having a glass of wine tonight. (or two)

Whatever you’re doing today I hope you have fun!

Happy Stampin’
and thanks so much for visiting!
Stay safe everyone!!

Two Cards Using Gina K Stencils

Hi All… Nancy here today…. and in an interesting turn of events, you get two cards instead of just one.  Although it might not be a real good prize… cuz honestly, I don’t like one of the cards LOL!  I was playing around with some new products and thought the card was OK enough to create my blog post, but the more I looked at it, the more I disliked it….

Let’s start with the good card….  maybe you won’t scroll far enough to see the card I don’t like!

I decided to play with the Paper Hug stamp that we used in this months blog hop…. Who can’t use some extra hugs these days?

I really love how this stencil looks with the multiple colours of ink.  It wasn’t a tough card to make.  I made sure to use my stamp positioning tool to ensure I got a nice clear and crisp black sentiment over top of the Gina K ink I blended on top of the stencil.

Items Used:

*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 110lb; Lawn Fawn Cardstock (from a rainbow pack)

*Images:  Picket Fence Studios A Paper Hug

*Stencil:  Gina K Mandala Burst

OK…. so be warned, this next card is not my best work LOL!  You can stop here if you want…. or you can scroll to see the other card… totally up to you!
