Random Acts of Cardness

Tuesday with Tara {take 250} Speckled Egg Blue

Hi! This week’s post is coming to you a day late as I chose to wait in solidarity for #blackoutTuesday.  We are continuing on with Daily Random Acts of Cardness Challenges over on our FB Challenge Group, encouraging you to spread some paper crafting happiness and today’s theme is BLUE.  I’m so excited to have the new Speckled Egg Distress collection to play with, it’s such a lovely color that is absolutely perfect with so many other colors and themes.  My goal on today’s card was honestly just to play with it and some other new to me products!  Here’s a photo of what I used (though I’ve got the wrong Nuvo product in this pic- I used the Nuvo Expanding Mousse today)!

Here’s a look at my card!  The background is a text stamp in black and Distress Oxide Spray splattered across the background.  The addition of Broken China with Speckled Egg brightens up the blue tones to really help the large flourish (from a large 12×12 stencil in my stash) pop.  The transparent wings I selected both had some hints of color in them already, but I painted some speckled egg Distress Paint on the back side where there were clear areas.  I love how this simple addition helped to tie everything together!

This was my first time playing with Distress Embossing Glaze, so I’ve used it in two ways on my card.  The sentiment is embossed over Broken China Distress Ink.  I stamped & embossed twice to get a bit more intensity.  I also sprinkled the glaze over the wet Nuvo Expanding Mousse, which I knew I would be heating to get that funky expansion happening. Here’s a peek at the pearly finish of the mousse before it was bubbled up from the heat (I tried it on another surface and it does keep that shimmer after it puffs up).

And here’s a closer look at the details… as you can see, the glaze is translucent, so you can see the details underneath it on the sentiment.  It’s fun stuff, and I look forward to playing with it some more!

I had a lot of fun playing with my new BLUE Speckled Egg Distress products today, as well as combining them with a bit of Broken China Distress to brighten things up a bit!  Good stuff 🙂  I hope you like it!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Perfectly Pink Mother’s Day Card

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

I am excited to be back and I am really enjoying the Random Acts of Cardness Challenge happening over at the Facebook Challenge Page. Today’s word is of course –  PINK!  Not just one of my favourite musical artists but also a perfect colour for my Perfectly Pink Mother’s Day Card!

I love mixing old and new products as well as combining different brands together.  For this card I am using a Large Stitched Square Die from the nesting set of Paper Rose, Stitched Squares, The Pretty Poppies Die from Lawn Fawn (although I think the Flower Power set would also be super cute!), the Large Circle Burst from Memory Box, as well as a few dies from the Sizzix Butterfly Embossing Folder and Die Set.

I found that with cards with many layers and die cuts it is easiest for me to do all my die cutting at one.  It is went especially fast since I was able to use my Gemini Jr. die cutting machine.  I received it last year for my birthday and I have declared it a necessity in my craft room and it is worth every penny my husband spent on it!  LOL!

Once I had all the die cutting done I wanted to add some dimension to the flower and some of the other embellishment images with Distress Inks.   I used Wild Honey, Victorian Velvet, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Bundled Sage and a picket fence blending brush to add some colour to the edges of the die cut images.  I really like how it add texture and dimension to the flower.

After the ink blending it was time to layer the images together to create my scene.  You can watch the YouTube video below to see how the card came together.

I used Gina K Connect Glue to adhere all the smaller die cuts together and for the dark pink stitched square I adhered that with my tape runner onto a 6 x 6 Square Card base.  I stamped the “MOM” sentiment with an alphabet stamp in Picked Raspberry Distress Ink using my Stamp Perfect (which is not exactly centred…but, that’s okay!) I then glued the white circle from the Large Circle Burst with the liquid adhesive and popped the rest of the Circle Burst die cut up with some Foam Squares.  The final touch was to add some enamel coloured dots and some Clear Wink of Stella to the centre of the flower and the small butterfly die cut.

This card was really quick to make and I am really happy with the way it looks.

Remember to play along with the Random Acts of Cardness Challenge this month as we love to see what you all create!  Also, if you missed this month’s Blog Hop be sure you check it out and leave your comments on each participants Blog Hop for your chance to win a $50 Scrap’N Stamp Gift Card.  The winner will be announced on May 14, 2020!

Happy Crafting!

Darling Digis

Happy Sunday!  I am joining in the 30 day Scrap’n Stamp Facebook Challenge and today’s word is “Digi”.

Digital stamps can be a fun and easy way to create cards when you are on a budget or can’t find the right image or sentiment to go with items you already have.  There are many companies that offer digi stamps and today I am using a free one from Love Cynthia called Heart World.  I thought this was a perfect image for our current situation.

I started my downloading the image and then importing it into Silhouette Studio and resizing it.  If you don’t have Silhouette Studio you can use programs like Word or Pages to resize and print your image.  I like using Silhouette Studio as it allows me to easily die cut the images.  Again, you don’t need this program, as you can fussy cut around the images as well.

I printed and cut out several of the images so that I could create a few cards at once.  I then coloured the images in with my Copic Markers. My daughter even got in on the fun and coloured some of the images as well!  I pulled out the Hello, Beautiful sentiment stamps from My Favorite Things and stamped the “Friends Like You Make the World Beautiful” onto a panel of Lawn Fawn White Cardstock cut to 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″.  I adhered the panel in the centre of some coordinating cardstock and then adhered that onto a top folding A2 size card base.  Finally, I adhered the digital image onto the card with some foam squares and added clear Wink of Stella to the little girl’s heart and bow as well as the bold “beautiful” sentiment.

I really like how I was able to coordinate this image with sentiments that I already had and I can’t wait to send these off to some nursing friends of mine.

I hope these cards inspired you and I can’t wait for you to share the cards you create with your take on the word “Digi”.

Take Care!
