Fancy Christmas

Hello all, Kia here with you today to share my card, which is done for the 30 day challenges Random Act of Cardness. Today is day 28, and that means “embossed” according to the list.

I used two methods of embossing. One being dry embossing, i.e. the embossed background done using a Sizzix Embossing Folder, and heat embossing using embossing powder.

For my background I am using Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. This paper will not add the bulk that watercolour paper would to my card front, which is why I am using it. The Bristol Smooth is attached to my Gina K Design Ivory card base.

I embossed the Bristol Smooth panel using the embossing folder that came with my Gemini Jr. when I bought it, which is the Alterations Botanical 3D folder.  Any 3D folder almost would work for this background. I added a watercolour wash to the embossed panel using Sap Green watercolour and set it aside to dry.

I then stamped the flowers and leaves using Arches cold press watercolour paper and heat embossed using Brutus Monroe Gold Embossing Powder. I love this powder for the fine details it gives.

Using my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens in the Red and Pink Lemonade I water coloured the flowers, adding layers of colour to achieve the difference in colours. To do the leaves I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi Pearl watercolour set in the green. Once I was done with the painting and all was dry I styled the flowers and leaves to add dimension.

I then attached the embossed background to my Ivory card base, then arranged the flowers and leaves and applied using foam squares. I die cut the sentiment from the gold glitter cardstock as well as from watercolour paper, which gives the sentiment a lot of strength. I painted the bottom sentiment using the Sap Green and glued on the gold glitter die cut.

To finish up I added Nuvo Crystal drops in Morning Dew around the card, including on the leaves and flowers.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed this card creation. Following are Affiliate Links for the products that I have used for this card, at no extra cost to you.
