Copic Markers

Showered with Love

Happy Wednesday

Hope you are all having a wonderful week despite the weather.

I am on the blog today sharing a  card featuring the adorable set from My Favorite Things called “Rain or Shine”.  This seemed pretty fitting considering out weather right now.

This set made me think of my three year old b/g  twins.  My daughter just loves to jump in “cuddles” aka puddles, so when I saw it I knew I had to have it and the puddle jumper sets which you can see is stamped out in the picture below.

I started the card off stamping the images out with Memento black ink onto Neehna solar white card stock. From there I went in and coloured the images with my Copic markers. I haven’t coloured with Copics in so long feel and felt very rusty.  So much so that I had to have a few takes at the little girl.

For the skin I used E000, 00, 02 and 11.  For the jacket I used R32, 30 and RV42, and the hair was E34,35 and 15.  For her pants I used W3, 4, 5.  For the hill I used C7, and finally for the clouds I used N0, C1, C3.

I die cut some Bristol card stock down to 2 3/8 x 3 3/8  to  create the back ground using my lovely, delicious, can’t get enough of, distress oxides and Tim holtz blending tool. I blended mermaid lagoon, blue print sketch and peacock feather onto the Bristol card stock and then used my distress mister to add some water splotches to add texture to the background.  I set that aside to dry and worked on the rest of the card.

The card it self is a standard A2, 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, which I created out of heavy weight black card stock, I added two layers to the card base for extra interest.  The first layer was cut from silver mirror card stock which measured 5 1/4 x 4, the second layer was some coloured card stock from my stash which I ran through my die cutting machine using a 3D embossing folder. I love the extra something it gives to the card.

When it came time for the sentiment I decided I wanted to add it onto some clouds which would help to complete the scene.  I had some pre die cut cloud boarder from a previous project which ended up to be perfect for the size for the top of the distressed panel.  I added some Copic marker to the clouds in just the right areas to make it look a little more like a storm cloud and add that extra detail.  I then stamped the sentiment using my stamping too, I didn’t want to come this far and mess up now.

Finally I adhered all the layers together.  The first two were flat and the middle portion was all foam taped up, except for the cute little girl and the hill. Lastly I added some mini heart sequins from my stash to tie in the sentiment and add that little bit of sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed the process and found some inspiration.  I know I will be using this set over and over again.

Hope the rest of your week is filled with crafty fun!

Nancy

So Glad We’re Friends with Penny Black Stamps

Good Morning and Happy Sunday!!  Laurie here to share a friendship card using products from Penny Black! I must admit that I don’t own a lot of PB product but intend to remedy that! I think Penny Black is well known for their gorgeous floral cling stamps but they have amazing and super cute people and critter images, too!!

I started by inking up a background panel using the Cloud Stencil and the Drifts and Hills stencil, both from My Favourite Things.  I used good ‘ol regular Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass.

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut (even between the spokes on the tires!!!) one of the cute images from the Let’s Play Stamp Set.  I really wanted the background to show through the different areas of the bicycle, that’s why I did so much cutting!!

I popped the little girl up with foam adhesive and tried to make it look like she was on her way down the hill!  I stamped a sentiment from the Penny Black Choose Happy Stamp Set directly onto the panel using Versafine Nocturne Ink and used a piece of craft foam to adhere the panel to the card base.

To add some shine, I used Nuvo Crystal Glaze on the balloons and basket and Glossy Accents on some of the smaller areas of the bicycle.  I find the Nuvo Glaze easier to use in larger areas and Glossy Accents on tinier areas. I also decided to add a few Nuvo Crystal Cloud Circles.

And that’s my project for today!! Please check out the huge array of Penny Black products in the SNS Shop!!

Have a great week!!

Laurie

Llama Love with Flora and Fauna

Hey, crafty friends! Laurie here, to share a card I made using some fabulous products from Flora & Fauna!! This is a fairly new company on the stamping scene and has become a favourite of mine!  The images are beautiful, whimsical, cut and above all else, super unique!!  As I was working on todays card, I noticed how well you can mix and match different sets. All the images are scaled to work together. This is fantastic because the possibilities are endless when everything works together.

I decided to make a birthday card using the Llama Love Stamp Set.  I stamped a bunch of the images and used my Copic markers to colour them. This set does not have co-ordinating dies but the images are really easy to fussy cut.

I created a little circle scene using dies from the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies from Hero Arts. I used Tumbled Glass and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks to add some colour to the circle. So, this is where the scale of the images from each stamp set come into play.  The cake on the llama’s back is from the Woodland Birthday Stamp Set. It fits perfectly on that llama!! The sentiment is from that stamp set, as well.

I adhered all my images to the ink blended circle using a combination of Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and foam adhesive squares. I decided to mat my scene onto a slightly larger, white circle to help it stand out from the kraft card base.  Before adhering my little scene, I used Versmark Ink and the “mountain” images from the Llama Love stamp set to create a patterned background. To give those a little shine, I used clear embossing powder.

I added Glossy Accents to the cake, the blanket on his back and the flowers on the cacti to add a bit of shine!!

And that’s my card for today!! I hope you have some Flora and Fauna in your stash. If not, the SNS store has an incredible variety to choose from, including dies!!!

SALE ALERT!! Until August 8th, the Hero Arts Circle Infinity Dies are 25% off!! This is a fantastic set of dies and will work perfectly with any other circle dies you may already have! Trust me, I have others, but this set “completes me” 🙂 !!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!!

Until next time…

Laurie
