Flora & Fauna

Panda Birthday with Laurie!

Hello friends!!  Happy New Year to all!!  Well, it’s that weird time between Christmas and Valentines Day where us cardmakers are sort of in limbo.  Of course, we can continue to use our winter stamps and dies but I always get a bit antsy to start using my  spring or love themed products!

I need to start building up my birthday card stash so that’s what I made for you today!  I used two Flora & Fauna stamp sets to create this cute card..

I started by stamping that adorable panda from the Panda Set, as well as the two large flowers. Before colouring and fussy cutting the panda, I added the birthday banner from the Woodland Birthday Stamp Set.  A lot of the images in Flora and Fauna sets are scaled to work perfectly together. After colouring with my alcohol markers, I trimmed each image with scissors.

I created a simple background on a white panel cut with a stitched rectangle die by using a hand cut mask to create the hill and sky.  I used Crushed Olive Distress Ink for the green and Peacock Feathers for the blue. After adhering the flowers and the panda with foam adhesive, I decided the scene needed a wee bit more.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the butterfly from the Panda Set and the party hat and small leafy image from the Woodland Birthday Set.

I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base, added a few clear sequins, shimmer pen and Glossy Accents to a few areas of the scene.

Thank you for dropping in today! I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at some Flora and Fauna cuteness!!

See you soon…

Tuesday with Tara {take 178}

Happy Tuesday!

I’ve been holding out for a bit to play with this sweet “Winter Aviary” stamp set by Flora & Fauna and today I’m finally sharing my first creation with you using it.  I was admiring the variety of greens and noticed the curve of one of the branches would work perfectly to create a wreath, so I traced a circle onto my card front and inked up the branch with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide and I was delighted when it was a perfect fit!  Since the first step went so well, I decided to continue on… I added some berries and holly leaves, stamped in shades of red (Candied Apple) & green (Lucky Clover).

I decided I wanted a bit more dimension, so I stamped the holly leaves onto a light green cardstock (the same as my card base would be) in the same Lucky Clover Ink.  After I cut them out, I added a bit of shading using my ink applicator tool with blending foams.   I added a bit of red Stickles to the berries and some lime Nuvo Crystal Drops on a few of the leaves, also adding some to the NOEL I stamped in the center of my wreath.  The subtle color really made my Oxide Ink pop!  I finished off my wreath adding a red bow and a small stamped bird from the set.

It’s a simple card, but it was fun to see what I could do with the variety of designs in this stamp set!  It definitely opened my eyes to look at the other Flora & Fauna sets and see what I could do with them… but first I’ve got a bit more creating to do with this one 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Floral Aviary Tag

How TWEET is this Floral Aviary Set from Flora and Fauna???

I just love the whimsical little images in this set and loved coloring them even more!

I created my tag using a Luggage Tag die from my stash but any  tag die will do like the Concord and 9th Sprinkles tag. I die cut it from Bristol Smooth cardstock and used fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxides with a blending tool to create my background.

I colored the image with Copics and Spectrum Noir markers and then fussy cut them out. I created the cage using  a Spellbinders Bird Cage Die, but Penny Black has some adorable ones here too. I die cut the bird cage from white cardstock three times and adhered them together, and then embossed the top layer with Clear Embossing poweder twice…doesn’t it look like a real shiny metal bird cage? lol

I adhered the flowers and birds with the cage onto my tag using glue and foam tape. I then stamped the sentiment using Versafine Black Onyx Ink. Some white gel pen highlights finished off my little tag.

Thank you for stopping by today and happy Craftin’!

~hugs~
