Having a HOOT with coloring mediums!

I had so much fun playing with MFT- Warm & Feathered Hugs Stamp set. I made two tags using different mediums- Copics and Fabercastell Pencils.

This stamp set has a 3 adorable owls to choose from and so many fun sentiments, so I couldn’t decide which to use, so I used two images from the set and colored them with different mediums onto different cardstocks.I started with the second larges die in the Tim Holtz Stacked Die set cut from Neenah 80lb Cardstock and Bazzil Kraft Cardstock.

First up, I colored the owl with the adorable scarf and stamped him onto Neenah 80lb cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat set it to dry.

I colored him with Copics and added a Signo White Gel pen for highlights. SO MUCH FUN TO COLOR THESE LIL’ GUYS!!

I added a branch for him to be perched on from Tim Holtz- Bird Branch Big Die and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide.  I adhered the branch to the tag and trimmed off the excess as it is a large die. I inked some Antique Linen Distress Ink to warm up the background a bit and stamped a sentiment from the Warm & Feathered Hugs set with Versafine Sepia Ink . I adhered the tag to black cardstock and trimmed around the tag leaving about a 1/8″ border and some gingham ribbon finished off my first tag using Alcohol Markers and white cardstock.

Next up, I stamped a different owl onto Bazzil Kraft Cardstock with Versafine Sepia Ink.

I colored the image using Fabercastell Goldfaber colored crayons- I  love the effect of coloring on Kraft cardstock with  colored pencils, such a sweet and soft look you get by layering the colors. I then added some white Signo Gel pen for highlights and added a Lawn Fawn Stiched Hillside border and edged the hill with some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide to give the snowhill some definition.

I then added a different sentiment from the Stamp set and added the black cardstock border and ginham ribbon, like I did in the first tag.

There we have it, a couple of quick and easy tags using different coloring mediums and cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by and I can’t wait to see y’all in the New Year!

Christmas Thanks Card!

Hello friends and welcome back!! Today, I made a Christmas thank you card. This card was easy to make although certainly not very quick and something you’d want to mass produce..although you defiantly could if you had the time!!

I started by white heat embossing the Snowflakes Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th onto a kraft card panel. I stamped it three rotations and embossed it all at once.

The cute little bird and holly image come from the Tweet Holidays Stamp set from My Favourite Things and was coloured with alcohol markers. This is one of my fave winter stamp sets this season!

I wanted the sentiment to be quite large and bold so I chose the Big Thanks Sugar Script Die from Birch Press Designs. I cut word out of white cardstock and used red shades of alcohol markers to give it colour.

I cut the outline portion of the die directly out of the heat embossed background then adhered the kraft panel to a landscape, white, top fold card base.

Before puzzle piecing the positive piece onto the card base, I die cut it once again, this time out of craft foam.  And to make sure everything was evenly popped up on the card, I die cut the bird and holly image out of the foam, as well!

I love the all the dimension!  I adhered the coloured thanks die onto the popped up outline and perched the bird and holly on top.  Of course, that large thanks die was screaming out for glitter and shine so I brushed some Wink of Stella Clear Shimmer Pen over top as well as a generous helping of Nuvo Crystal Glaze!!

Don’t you just love the shine? In fact, I loved it so much I added it to all the red bits on the card!!

This card was super fun to make and I hope you enjoyed it!!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!!

Until next time…

Laurie

Tuesday with Tara {take 180}

Happy Tuesday!  (I’m just going to pretend this post isn’t a day late… gotta love technical difficulties!

I’m sharing a tag I made using many of the same products I used on my card from the ‘All That Sparkles’ blog hop.  This tag has a bit more of a distressed feel along with the glitter, but I simply used a torn piece of the tissue collage paper on a kraft tag.  The shape of my tissue wasn’t planned, but seemed like a perfect fit to use this die cut sentiment from MFT, miss you.

Missing people is a big part of Christmas when you’re far away from family, but I’m so blessed to have a loving husband and family where I am and technology to keep us all feeling close <3

I love the look of the Glimmer paste on the kraft tag and a bit of extra sparkle one one of my berries with some red Stickles glitter glue.  A full crinkle bow finishes off my tag!

With less than a week until Christmas (wow!) I hope you are feeling the warmth of the season and take some time to enjoy the people you are spending it with, as well as sending warm thoughts to those you are missing!

Inky hugs,

Tara
