Penny Black Dies

Winter Hearts of Magic

Hello everyone. Kia here with you today to share this adorable Penny Black image called Bundled Buddies.  I thought this would make a sweet card to make my friend for her granddaughter.

I started with a very pale pink card tent fold card.

Using Strathmore Bristol Smooth I did my background pieces using Nuvo Shimmer Powder Catherine Wheel. On plastic wrap I sprinkled the shimmer powder then spritzed with water before laying my Bristol in it. I then heat dried the piece and did a second round with the colour, again heat drying.

For the top layer I sprinkled the Bristol paper with the Shimmer Powder, then hit it with water, being sure to leave some white space. I attached the two pieces of Bristol together on an angle.

On the top piece of Bristol and using my snowflake stencil I applied texture transparent glossy paste and set it aside to dry. You can see the snowflake in the top right corner, and once you know what to look for the snowflakes will appear throughout the piece.

Using Fabriano Hot Press water colour paper and VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne, I stamped the Penny Black image and proceeded to paint using the Nuvo Shimmer Powder as my colour. The red is several layers of the Catherine Wheel, and the green is several layers of the Green Parade. Once finished and dried I fussy cut her out.

I added the Bristol layers to my card base using Fun Foam and Be Creative/Scor-pal Tape. I then attached the Penny Black image using foam squares.

Using my Gemini Jr. I die cut the snowflakes and the Valentine Heart painting the heart the same as I did the scarf. I cut a couple of the snowflakes in half and tucked them in, and added the larger snowflake to the left.

On the red heart I added Glossy Accents to the corner and covered it with WOW Midas Touch Embossing Glitter and a few gems, then attached it over the snowflake.

To finish the outside I painted a light coat of the shimmer powder and stamped my sentiment using a red ink.

For the inside I again did a Bristol Paper panel using the same colours as on the front of the card. I die cut the snowflake frame, and sprinkled the powder on it and spritzed. then attached one of the snowflake halves and adhered to the background pieces.

The inside is finished with the sentiment stamped from the Penny Black Little Charmer stamp set.

I so wish you could see the shimmer from the powder and the stencilling, it is very pretty.

I think it is the perfect little card for my friend to give her granddaughter, and I hope you enjoy this as well. Thank you for joining us today.

Bold Merry Christmas

Hello all – Kia here with you today to share this Bold Merry Christmas card.

Our challenge theme this month is “White Christmas”, and I kept that in mind for the Christmas portions of the card, but I went Bold on the card stock, using Gina K. Cherry Red.

For the panel I used Penny Black’s Stitched Stackers die. I tore the strip of Vellum paper viewing it on the card panel to see how I liked the tears to look, meaning the height of the piece, then wrapped it around the panel, gluing the vellum to card where the flower would be.

For dimension I then attached the panel to my card base using Be Creative tape and fun foam.

I stamped the Winter Flower and Leaves with VersaMark Embossing ink and heat embossed with Brutus Monroe Gold Gilded Embossing powder, then arranged everything on the card front.

Stamping the sentiment on the red card stock I heat embossed with the gold embossing powder and attached to the centre of the flower.

To finish I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Autumn Red. I wish I had gold crystal drops, but the red also worked.

Thanks so much for joining me today. Following are Affiliate Links to the products that I have used for this card, at no additional cost to you.

Magic of the Holidays

Hello all, Kia here with you today.

I am doing double duty today by hosting a challenge which is to use vellum in your design. I thought it would be nice to use vellum on the cards I was designing during this time.

In each of my designs I have used Gina K. Designs Winter Flower stamp and die sets.

For this card, on my card base I brushed on colour, first the Squeezed Lemonade, then the Twisted Citron, blending as I went along, keeping in mind where my flower would be on the card.

Using my Stitched Stackers die I die cut a panel piece, then taped on the Winter Flower die where I would like it. Using my manual Spellbinders die cutting machine I lined the flower die up to the edge of the machine platform where I wanted it cut, with the flower towards the machine, and ran the piece through. I then trimmed from the edges toward the flower on a diagonal with my scissors.

Putting the pieces side by side I splattered with Midas Touch Aqua Shimmering pens. I love the sparkle it adds along with the faint gold colour. I then stamped the sentiment using Fern Green ink.

To put it all together I brushed on the same colours to the edges of the flower piece and cut lines, then added foam squares to the panel, and attached it to the card base.

I added the vellum flower, which had been stamped and heat embossed with gold embossing powder, to the flower area. The cardstock underlay acts like another flower layer to the vellum flower.

And, for a bit more sparkle I added sequins and gems.

Here is a picture of the card I did for my other project in case you are interested.

And, for a totally different look I did this card.

Thank you for joining me today. Following are Affiliate Links to the products I used on the first card, which are almost the same for all the cards.
