Tuesday with Tara {take 221} Give Thanks

Happy Tuesday! It’s Thanksgiving in Canada next week and I’m looking forward to celebrating & enjoying a delicious meal with my family here in my southern home.

I had the opportunity to try out the Gina K Wreath Builder tool recently, and this image was what came of it. We stamped with a mix of three images from Sketchy Flowers by MFT, in three different colors of ink. I used the coordinating layering stamps to add more autumn colors to the mix.

The stamps & placement caused this to be a very symmetrical, square image. I had to get creative when deciding how to crop it to mount on a card, since it was also on a large 6” square paper. As I started trimming the image down, I decided to embrace the cropped corners and create a shaped card. I added a dark brown layer and trimmed the corners to match the shape, then mounted it to a square 5.5” Kraft card before cropping the corners on it to match. It’s been a while since I made a shaped card and I’d forgotten how fun they can be!

I had a different die cut picked out to use on this card, but changed my mind mid-process and decided to cut my own using the lowercase cutout alphanumeric dies by Tim Holtz. I cut them to fit a dark brown tag, which I layered over a second tag cut from burlap. It gives such great texture to this card!

Little details that finish things off include a bow on the tags from hand dyed crinkle ribbon in shades of brown and glossy Nuvo drops around the floral design in buttermilk.

Inky hugs,

Tara

Inspire Me

Hello all. I am back to share this Clean and Simple card using Alcohol Pearl Inks and Alcohol Ink.

This is the first time I have used the Pearl Alcohol inks and I must say they are wonderful. The pretty pearl texture adds a great deal to a blend.

I first die cut my Yupo piece with my Spellbinders Rectangle Die, which saves my dies from the alcohol ink transfer.

Moving on to my background I started with Yupo paper and the blending solution, which I applied on the diagonal.

The set I am using includes the yellow and orange, along with red, however I did not want to use red, so I added regular alcohol ink in Citrus.

Keeping the inks on a flat service allowed me to control where the ink was moving. I added more of the orange to border the yellow, which also made for darker tones, which I liked.

Once I was happy with the movement and look of the piece, I set it aside to dry.

Once dry I stamped the sentiment using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink, and attached the panel to my yellow card base.

I then added the Nuvo Crystal Drops to finish.

I hope you will give these inks a try, I am sure you will love the result. Following are Affiliate links to the products found in the store that I have used today. There is no cost to you when using these links.

Slimline Card with Gina K Elegant Asters

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to the SNS Blog! Laurie with you today to share a card made using Elegant Asters and other Gina K Designs goodies new to the Scrap ‘N Stamp Store!

My most used card size is an A2 size which is 4.25 X 5.5 inches. I’m not sure why I focus so much on this size as I absolutely LOVE making 4 Bar sized cards which are 3 1/2 X 4 7/8 inches…I always round up to 5 inches! Today, however, I’m going slightly out of my comfort zone by making a slimline card. This measures 3 X 9 inches and fits your standard business sized envelope! I have made only a couple of these as I find it daunting to “fill the space” :).

I started by stamping all the floral images from the Elegant Asters Stamp Set from Gina K Designs. This is a beautiful set and has been on my wishlist for so long. I’m so excited that SNS is now carrying Gina K’s line! I used Mixed Media paper because I love the whiteness of it as well as it’s not too textured. I also used Versamark Ink for the stamping.

I used Pale Rich Gold Embossing Powder from WOW to heat emboss the images. You’ve got to check out the tons of EP the shop is carrying! For the simple watercoloring, I used a couple of sets of Nuvo Aqua Pens, Autumn Woodland and Spring Meadow. These pens are so bright not to mention, easy to use!!

After using the co-ordinating Elegant Asters Dies to cut out my florals and leaves, it was time to make the card base. I used an Ivory cardstock. I think Ivory looks stunning with gold!

I used a very light shade of beige ink to stamp some of the flowers and leaves directly on the front of the card base. It’s really hard to see in the photos. I decided to add a gold strip of cardstock to break up all that ivory in the background. I smooshed my Versamark ink pad onto a scrap of cardstock, add the gold EP and heat set…instant gold cardstock!

The sentiment was heat embossed onto a die cut ivory circle, then layered onto a larger die cut kraft circle. I used foam adhesive to adhere it. After deciding on an arrangement, I used Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive to adhere all the flowers and leaves.

I’m happy with how this card turned out although, I had a hard time photographing it.

I hope you enjoyed my project and get some time to look at all the fab new products that are now available in the SNS store!!

Have a wonderful and see you soon!

Laurie
