Happy Saturday! It’s Deb here, for the Design Team. Normally, Saturday is a great time to enjoy wine with friends; unfortunately, these days we can’t do that. *sad face* It seems that right now, practically everywhere in the world is on lockdown, so today’s card is for the friends we can’t visit. Yes – that is the reason behind why I chose today’s word prompt to be ‘friends’ for the Scrap ‘N Stamp Daily Challenge!
If you haven’t already joined the Daily Challenge, I hope that you’ll consider it! Each day there is a new word prompt, to use as a jumping off point for your project. Simply share your card/project in the Facebook Challenge Page HERE, and use the hashtag #SNSCHALLENGE. At the end of the month, one lucky participant is randomly chosen as the WINNER of a $50 GIFT CARD to Scrap ‘N Stamp! That’s a lot of goodness you can get for yourself.
I’ve combined some ‘old with new’ for this card; a new Lavinia stencil, with an older MFT Shaker die. It’s been so long since I’ve made a shaker card, I really had to think about it! Especially because I discovered that I had run out of the Shaker inserts for this die.
I like the stenciled background, and how the sequins appear to be bubbles, floating out of the glass! I figure it’s been a while since I’ve shared a glass with friends, so we should make it champagne, aka sparkly wine!
I decided to make a slimline card, just because I like using the new Picket Fence Studios Slim Line Die Cutting System. First, cut 2 pieces of white cardstock with the inside layer die. On one of the pieces, apply Worn Lipstick Distress Ink through the Lavinia Stamp Pods stencil. Next, use the MFT Wine Glass Shaker Die to die cut the glass shape from the stenciled paper. Die cut another glass from dark pink cardstock. Create your shaker, using the Gina K. Clear Quartz Solid sequins. Use foam tape to attach the top stenciled/die cut layer to the 2nd piece of white cardstock. Now, attach the card front to a dark pink card base.
Next, stamp the sentiment from the MFT Good Time to Wine stamp set. I wanted to layer the sentiment on 2 strips, so stamped the first part, then masked off the stamp to ink the 2nd half of the sentiment. Next, die cut the 2 sentiments, and attach them to the card front with foam tape or squares.
Finally, glue on some extra sequins, for the ‘bubbles’.
In the photo above, you can see the added dimension of the sequins, shaker and sentiment strips. The stencil is a great way to add a background & more depth, without adding a physical layer.
Don’t forget to create and share your project for today’s prompt of ‘friends’, and/or any other day! Hopefully, we’ll all be able to have wine with friends in person, soon. Until then, have fun creating!

Welcome to a new week, my friend! Deb here, for the design team. I’m starting the week off with a new product – a new Lavinia Stencil called Pods. Have you seen this amazing line of stencils yet? Be sure to check them all out, in the Scrap ‘N Stamp store. It was difficult for me to choose just one, but I loved the shape of the Pods, so that’s what I’m sharing today.
The brilliant thing about this stencil is that you can use it year ’round. Change up the colours you use to suit the season! Of course we’re in fall right now, and I just love the colours of the changing leaves. So I pulled out my Distress inks, and got blending!
Don’t you just love the warmth of these colours? And they blend so beautifully.
Start with a piece of smooth white cardstock. Lay the Lavinia Stencil Pods over top, and hold it in place with some Purple Tape. Choose your colours, and start applying them with a blending tool. I chose Distress inks in Fired Brick, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Tea Dye. When finished blending, remove & clean the stencil. Take a minute to admire your handiwork, ’cause gosh – it’s pretty! *wink*
The stencil and colours are so beautiful, it’s a shame to cover them up. So don’t! Use a piece of vellum, and stamp the sentiment from the Memory Box Harvest Love set in Versamark ink. Cover it with gold embossing powder, and then set with a heat tool. Die cut the sentiment with the MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die, and then attach it to the blended panel with glue dots. Now, attach the card front with foam tape to a piece of black cardstock. This helps those gorgeous colours really pop! Finally, attach the front to a dark orange card base. Add the finishing touch of some Picket Fence Studios Candy Corn Shot sequins to the card front.
You could add extra shine to your card by switching the black cardstock panel to a gold metallic panel. That would coordinate nicely with the gold embossed sentiment.
It just so happens that today’s word for the Scrap ‘N Stamp Daily Challenge is ‘stencil’! Coincidence? I think not! Ha ha! I’m the one who chose the word for today, knowing that it was my day to share. Whether you choose one of the new Lavinia Stencils, or one of your favourites, I hope that you’ll play along. Be sure to share your project on the Facebook challenge page HERE, and use the hashtag #SNSCHALLENGE when you share there, and on your other social media pages. At the end of the month, one luck person will be randomly selected to WIN a $50 GIFT CARD to Scrap ‘N Stamp! Play along with as many days as you like.
