SNS Challenge

Sentiments Only

Hi Everyone and welcome to another Random Acts of Cardness Challenge. I’m Susan and my prompt for today is Sentiments Only. I can pretty much guarantee that the first thing I decide on when making a card is the image I’m going to use which is why I wanted to challenge myself and all of you, because I think most people are like this, is to only use sentiments on their projects.

I started by going through my stamp stash and pulling out sets with sentiments. I quickly noticed I had a group that would work together so that’s what I used. I started with the hello because I knew I was going to color that one in and make it a focus. Then I added stamps around that one keeping it in somewhat of a square – the top one is poking out a little bit but that’s okay with me.

I used a red Tombow marker to color in the hello and to stamp the love in I love you and the rest I kept black & white. I used a fine tip black pen and a ruler to add the lines. Next I used the large die from the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Set to cut the panel then layered it onto a piece of black card stock tearing one side for some texture.

I layered the panel onto a piece of striped paper from MFT’s Black & White Stripes paper pack then added that to a white card base.

I think this would be a great style of card for masculine cards. Switch up the sentiments for birthday, retirement, father’s day – whatever the reason would work.

So now it’s your turn. Have a hunt through your stamps and (hunting would be a good theme for a masculine card too) have a go at Sentiments Only and please share your card in the SNS Facebook Group for a chance to win a Gift Certificate to the SNS Shop.

Happy Stampin’

and thanks so much for visiting!

Susan

Have a Hoppy and Sunny Easter!

The calendar has moved into SPRING here in Canada! (I’m just gonna ignore the snow in the backyard…) And so my word for today’s Random Acts of Cardness challenge: SUNSHINE. I was tempted to make a beach scene, because wow, I miss the beach 😉 , but then my thoughts turned to Easter:

I still wanted to make sure my sun motif was prominent, so I started blending my sky background with some squeezed lemonade distress ink to give my whittle sun a nice sunny glow around it. The rest of the sky is blended with tumbled glass distress ink to keep the background light. I was going to cut the grass out of regular green cardstock, but this Photo Play polka dot paper happened to be out, and I thought it would be a fun addition.  The Easter bunny, eggs and sentiment are all from a mini Lawn Fawn stamp set. There are days I might colour all the different Easter eggs… and days like today when I cut them from scraps of coloured cardstock. 😉

Are you like me, ready for some spring sunshine? Hope you’ll play along!

Cupcake Anyone?

Happy Saturday!! Hi Everyone – it’s Susan and I’m sharing a card for the Random Acts of Cardness Challenge. Since Scrap’n Stamp is celebrating it’s 14th birthday this year (and it’s my daughters birthday today) I thought I’d make a birthday card and have CUPCAKE as the prompt.

I used the Cupcakes Stamp Set from Hampton Arts. It’s a cute stamp set that comes with the coordinating dies.

I started by stamping two of the sentiments with Versafine Nocturne Ink repeatedly over a panel of white card stock. I had a little spot with out any stamping so I stamped the heart from the set  couple of times to fill it in. I cut the panel with the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die Set, layered it onto a piece of black card stock and adhered that to a white card base.  I had a scrap of striped paper from the MFT Black & White Stripes paper pack on my table so I ran it through my die cutting machine with the same rectangle die then adhered it to the panel.

I stamped the cupcake with the same ink and cut it out with the coordinating die. I colored it in with copics leaving the little stars uncolored. I used G02 Spectrum Green and Y02 Canary Yellow for the liner and unfortunately I’ve misplaced the brown marker that I used. I set it aside and now I can’t find it so I can’t tell you the number – sorry. I added the cupcake to the card using craft foam then embossed the sentiment and added that under the cupcake also with craft foam.

I hope you’re inspired to create a project with a cupcake on it and join in the challenge on facebook.

Someone’s going to win a prize – who knows, it could be you.
