Cute Critters!

Today’s prompt for the Scrap ‘N Stamp daily challenge is ‘animals’, so I’m here to share some cute critters with you! It’s Deb here today, for the Design Team. I pulled out an older stamp & dies combo from MFT called Beach Bunnies, and combined it with the recent Picket Fence Studios Slimline Die Cutting System.

BEACH BUNNIES PEEK-A-BOO

It was fun to give these bunnies their own personalities and fur colour!

Cute Critters!

The fun part is that you can choose any colour, for any part of this card, to use! I went with blue for my cardstock, for a ‘blue sky’ kind of background.

CARD DETAILS

Create your card base of 7″ x 8 1/2″. Score and fold in half at 3 1/2″, and set aside. Next, use the PFS Slimline Die Cutting  System to die cut the top layer, and each circle.  I like the added touch of the stitching around the circle dies. Next, use the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border die to die cut 2 strips of grass, from a mid-green cardstock.

Stamp the bunnies, birds and heart in Nocturne ink onto white cardstock. Use your favourite markers to colour the images; I used a combination of Copic and Spectrum Noir, from my stash. Now, use the coordinating Beach Bunnies dies & die cut each image. Add some interest to the die cut grass by blending on some Mowed Lawn distress ink, with a blending tool.

Now, add 2 layers of the grass to the bottom of each circle, using glue or double sided tape. Next, add this layer to the card base, using foam tape or squares. Add foam tape or squares to the back of the die cut images, and then place the bunnies inside each circle. Allowing the bunnies to be partially outside of the circles adds more dimension. Finally, add the birds, heart and a few of the Brutus Monroe Acrylic Bubbles to the front.

Cute Critters!

I decided to add  a die cut sentiment to the front. Use your Big Shot with the MFT Sweet Hello die, and the Memory Box bright yellow glitter paper. This glitter paper is very stiff & sturdy, so you don’t have to layer it. Attach it with glue to the card front, and you’re done!

Chill

It is Day 11 for the Random Act of Cardness and the keyword for today is Chill with the key person being me, Kia.

There is a lot of chill in this card, most especially the look on that little Foxes face. Too cute!

I decided I would create a little scene today using Penny Black’s Winterfield Friends stamp set. I die cut a piece of Hammermill cardstock as I love how Copics blend on this paper. I then stamped the little trees and the fox in place using Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black.

To make some snow ridges I used a piece of torn paper, adding them in using Ranger Distress Oxide ink in Speckled Egg. I then die cut the Winter Greens and coloured with Copic Markers G43, YG63 and YG67 along with R27 on the berries.

For the little trees I used the same colours as above. The Fox is done using Copic Markers E31, E35, W2 and N4. When I searched for reference images the tail was very dark on the Grey Fox, which is what I was going for on this card. Even though he is the Grey Fox, there is still a lot of brown in his coat. For his scarf I used R27 and G14.

The splattering I did using Bleed Proof watercolour by Dr. Ph. Martin’s and a small brush for small splatters. The bigger the brush, the bigger the splatters.

I had a relaxing time making this card today, which is what it is all about. I hope you have enjoyed the process and wish to thank you for your visit.

See you next time, Kia.

Fun Fishes

Hello all Kia here with you today to share some “Copic Bleed”.

This is done by Copic colouring a page (I used a Colouring Book) with cardstock tucked firmly underneath your colouring piece, so the bleed from the colouring bleeds through to the cardstock, as shown above. I used my Make Art Stay-tion to keep the pieces together using the magnets.

For my colouring I used Copic Sketch Markers in B12, B32, B16 and G14 for the background. For the fish I used Y08, Y38 and YR68; BG11, BG15, BG45 then V12, V15 and V17.

The colouring page is a thinner paper, so I attached mine to a piece of 100lb cardstock. You do not need to have a colouring book to do this technique. You can use your favourite stamp and stamp with Copic friendly ink on paper such as Hammermill Premium copy paper and add the cardstock underneath.

Once I was finished with the colouring I die cut the “wishes” sentiment from a piece of 120lb. white cardstock, then coloured with Glitter Markers in purple.

I attached the piece to my white cardbase, then attached the “wishes” sentiment using Nuvo Adhesive.

For the inside I stamped the sentiment on the piece of “bleed cardstock” using VersaFine Clair Ink in Fantasia.

Returning to the card front I added air bubbles using Nuvo Jewel Drops in Sea Breeze.

I hope you will give this technique a try and that you have enjoyed the process. Following are Affiliate Links for the products that I have used on this card, at no extra cost to you.
