Tuesday with Tara {take 332} Celebrate!

Happy Tuesday & Happy New Year!  It’s my first Tuesday with Tara for 2022… it only seemed right to bling things up a bit and celebrate!

I love glitter paper for maximum bling with minimum mess, and the 6×6 pads by Memory Box give so many colors in one stack!   I’ve paired it with a solid Cardstock layer with the falling stars die by Tim Holtz cut from it, as well as some of the additional stars cut from the glitter paper itself.

I kept this card really simple, with an embossed sentiment by MFT and a little mouse who snuck in to help out with the sparkle, lifting a star as high as he can!

I had two things in mind when I was making this card… but I tried to keep it neutral enough that it could perhaps be used for a variety of occasions!  First, of course, was a card for the new year!  I try to make one every year and I tend to forget to send them to anyone, so… lol.  I think this will also be a cute card for a new baby or any other celebratory occasion!

It’s a pretty simple card overall, but it carries lots of punch with all the glitter!  I hope you like it and I hope 2022 is a year full of creative days for all of us!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 328} Christmas Holly

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s card is a slimline card that showcases a fun Christmas banner I created that spans the entire width… and beyond!  It’s a good thing legal envelopes are little bit wider than the cards are!  Since the banner itself is really such a statement piece, I kept the rest of the card pretty simple.  I stamped a random repeat of holly from Sketch Greenery as my background in green on a Kraft base.

I inked the die cut ‘Christmas’ letters in the same green before adhering it to the banner.  Are you ready for my secret?  I totally cheated and bought a pre-made (stitched together) paper banner for just a few dollars and it’s long enough to do tons of cards!

I paired the banner with a big “Merry” from Tim Holtz’s Merry & Bright die, which is a favorite of mine!  My red glitter paper hadn’t arrived yet, (I have some now!) so I used some deep pink, pearly paper.   I finished it all off by with some green ink around the edges and some pink pearls!

It was simple, but I think it makes a bold statement 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 327} Cup of Joy

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s card is Sending you a Cup of Christmas Joy for today’s Random Acts of Cardness theme, coffee.

I finally took some time to play with the new Villainous Potion Distress Inks this week and I challenged myself to use them for this theme!  I first got inky, creating some background paper with a mix of regular Distress & Oxide Inks. I splattered a bit of silver over it and also inked up some thin crinkle ribbon to match.  Love it!

I pulled out the Coffee Understands set by Picket Fence Studios and the Sending Christmas Joy die by MFT.  While I love this big sentiment, sometimes it’s a challenge fitting other images with it on a card.  I played around with my layout a bit and decided on a 5.5″ square card with the girl from the stamp set stamped beside it, since she’s almost as tall as the text.  The tall to-go cup is a great fit to sit over the open “O” in JOY.

I decided to pull it all together with some snowflakes on the background, using Distress Oxide ink through a snowflake stencil (by Paper Rose) which is really bold on the Kraft card base.  I layered it all together and decided to keep it simple and call it done!  The offset layers are a fun & different twist, but the ribbon seems to balance it all out.

And yep… my fingers are still inky!

Inky hugs,

Tara
