Hello crafty friends, Kia here with you today to share Day 17 of Scrap’n Stamps 30 Days of Challenges which is to use Shaving Cream. I have a video for you to watch here.

In the video Lydia describes what she does once the shaving cream is applied to the card. I do not do this, I leave the piece to dry as I like a crisp look, which takes awhile. I left these for 90 minutes to dry, and they were still damp. So be sure to use freezer paper to wrap the panel when die cut to protect your plates, and when applying glue to the back place the panel on a paper towel.

 For the left card I used reinkers and alcohol inks for the middle and right cards.

As I wanted the backgrounds to be the star, I kept the cards clean and simple.

I used my Penny Black Elegant Stitched die for the card above and have added Nuvo Glitter Drops to the flower centres as well as a few falling from the sentiment.

Again, I used the Penny Black Elegant Stitched die on this card and the Hello die is cut 3 times, glued together, then I painted it with Nuvo Glitter Gloss.

For this card, on my card base I stencilled using my XO Mask stencil along with Opaque Matte Embossing Paste. I fussy cut the Heart and glued to the card base on the left side then used foam squares on the right side. The sentiment is stamped and glued to the card, and the you is glued on the left with a foam square supporting it on the right.

Strong and Beautiful

Yes You Are!

My card today is in honor of International Women’s Day and all the Strong and Beautiful women in my life.

 

I chose to use the Picket Fence Studios Jill  stamp and MFT’s Beautiful Blessings 2 for the sentiment.

I’ll be honest with you. I didn’t know it was International Women’s Day until I woke up this morning and saw it on a post. I was instantly inspired to make a card to celebrate. What I had originally planned for today I’ll share later in the month.

I stamped the image using my stamp positioning tool. Not because it didn’t stamp well but because I knew I was going to use my Prismacolor pencils and they tend to dull the stamped lines. I stamp the image, leave the stamp in place, color the image, put it back into the stamp positioning tool and re stamp the image. It sharpens the image up. I should’ve taken a pic to show you the before and after.

I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle dies to cut a panel and then stamped the sentiment using Versafine Nocturne ink.  I adhered the panel to a white card base using craft foam.

Tuesday with Tara {take 214} Coffee Understands

Happy Tuesday! Today I’ve got two simple but fun cards featuring the ‘Coffee Understands‘ stamp set by Picket Fence, a rainbow of Distress Oxide Inks & two different stencil techniques. Picket Fence is a new company in the SNS store this year, and I’ve been loving what I’ve played with so far!

For my first card, I started with this fun, scribbly ‘Thoughts’ stencil by Crafters Workshop. I’d been playing around with some glitter texture paste and had a bit left on my spatula, so I decided to add some glossy transparent texture paste to it and swipe it through this stencil onto white cardstock. There’s just a hint of blue glitter amidst the clear, shiny texture it left…

I selected a rainbow of Distress Oxide Inks and blended the colors over the texture paste, going back over the colors a couple of times to get a nice smooth blend and a pretty mix of colors. I decided on a MFT stitched circle die to fit one of the sentiment stamps from the Coffee Understands set, and chose to cut out a window from my background rather than layering it on top. Once I cut my window, I positioned the frame I created on a white card base and stamped through it in black ink. I colored the large mug from the set with Watercolor pencils, then applied some Nuvo Glitter Drops over the entire mug to kick up the glitter factor on this card!

After wrapping black ribbon around the rainbow panel, I mounted it onto the white card base with foam tape to give a bit of dimension.

I had a colorful circle die cut left over… so I decided to make another card! I used the two smaller coffee cups from this stamp set as my images on that circle.

This time I decided to ink up a rainbow through a striped stencil I have by Tim Holtz. I used the same rainbow of Distress Oxide Inks as I used on the previous card. I kept the stencil in line by adhering it to both the card (the bottom half which I planned to cover with a white panel of cardstock) and my work surface. It was very easy to repeat the pattern to go across the entire card front, since these stripes have random spacing between them.

I added a white stitched panel, edged in black (both of which were die cut with a MFT stitched edge die) to the bottom of the card. The small ‘good to the last drop’ sentiment from this set is stamped on it.

Here’s a look at my two rainbow cards featuring the Coffee Understands stamp set by Picket Fence. It’s such a great set and I can finally say I’ve used every stamp on it!
