Tuesday with Tara {take 224} get your candy on

Happy Tuesday! I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get a Halloween project ready to share with you today. Then I remembered I had a background I’d prepared at a local make & take day and fun Happy Halloween die cut from Impression Obsession to use! I hope you like what I came up with 🙂

I chose to combine the two prepared elements with some wide, sheer black ribbon and paper dolls & chit chat sticker by Tim Holtz. The glittery paper Happy Halloween die cut is pretty fabulous, but didn’t stand out like I wanted it to without that black layer behind it. I hated to cover up the fun background, but the sheer ribbon allows the design to peek through a bit.

I added a bit of color to the witch paper dolls with a matching purple Copic Marker, then added a bit of bling in the same purple to the card as well. A Quickie Glue Pen was just what I needed to adhere the die cut to the card. It even sticks to the ribbon! (The ribbon was stuck down with a bit of Sookwang/ Be Creative tape hidden behind the die cut as well as on the back of the panel.)

Hope your week is a good one! Have fun getting your candy on 🙂 I’ll be back on Friday, Nov. 1 to kick off our November blog hop… can’t wait to share what the team has been working on with you!

Inky hugs,

Tara

November Blog Hop & Challenge!

Welcome to our November Blog Hop, where we are introducing our November Challenge (you can play along with us on Facebook!) and hopefully bringing you inspiration to create a Movember Madness card which features mustaches or a masculine theme!  We are featuring a fun little Retro Masculine die set by Impression Obsession, but you can interpret the challenge however you wish…

We will be giving away prizes, of course- 3 of you who leave comments along the way of the hop will win one of the Retro Masculine die sets, and one lucky challenge participant will get a $50 gift certificate to spend in the SNS online store!   Scrap ‘N Stamp will also be be donating 10% of net sales on hop Day to the Movember foundation in support of men’s health issues.

For my card, I’ve paired  the Retro Masculine Dies with mugs from the ‘Thanks a Latte’ set by Lawn Fawn.  I die cut the entire set and played around with placement of them to add some fun character to the mugs, which I colored with Copic Markers.  I pulled a 6×6 pad out from my stash (perhaps you recognize this old fave, Mamarazzi, by BoBunny.  It’s probably 7 years old!) and chose papers using inspiration from a recent card sketch I found online.  I’ve switched things up a bit, but you can probably still see the design 😉  One of Tim’s SNARKY small talk sentiment stickers was a perfect fit to help me with my design… After a bit of playing around, I added some ribbon and moved a third mug to the inside of the card, then added a fun border of die cut shapes at the bottom of the card.

I love the personality the die cuts add to my mugs!  As you can see, I added some Glossy Accents to the coffee.  yum.

Inside the card, I added a strip of patterned paper & the smaller mug, which is from the mini Pumpkin Spice stamp set, also by Lawn Fawn.  I can see the three mugs being used together to represent a family (with a mustache on just one, of course!).  The sentiment is from the Thanks a Latte set.  I love that there are so many options to mix & match between the two sets!

I had fun creating this card and making a card that is whimsical, snarky & masculine!  The girls have put together some fun projects, I think you’re going to enjoy this hop!  And remember, we’d love to see what you are making too!  Please join us on the Challenge Page on Facebook and play along!  Now that you’ve seen my card, it’s time to continue on and get hopping…

The hop starts here with Tara, then goes to

Enjoy the fabulous creations from our Creative Design Team!  We look forward to hearing what you think of the theme & the cards!

Inky hugs,

Tuesday with tara {take 151}

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s card is a simple one that celebrates some gorgeous watercolor floral paper by Webster’s Pages that I picked up on a recent shopping trip- the cheerful mix of patterns and colors called to me… so I decided to try using it for some paper piecing!  I stamped this fun mug by Impression Obsession first on white card stock, then on the patterned paper.  I trimmed my patterned mug and added a bit of shading, then colored the pens, pencils & paintbrushes in a variety of shades to coordinate with the paper. My white cardstock was trimmed to fit inside the card front and the right edge was trimmed with some old school scalloped scissors 😉

I trimmed a strip of the floral paper to fit a die cut ‘hello’ sentiment (from the Sizzix Side Order die set) I added a simple ‘handmade’ definition stamp in black (an OLD Hero Arts fave!) to help draw the eye to the die cut greeting.

Such a pretty mug of tools!  The little butterfly is also from the spring Side Order die set, I stamped the same definition on the back side of the patterned paper (which has a pale pink pattern).

A little bit of Distress Ink blending and some Nuvo Glitter drops add a bit of extra interest to the background of my card.  I also added a bit of splatter details using Dina’s Scribble Sticks.  They make it soooo easy!

I paper pieced another image as well and made a similar card with it- you can see a closer look at that one on my personal blog later today 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

Inky hugs,

Tara
